It had taken weeks for Molly to beg him up off of the floor.
The pattern that they had was this:
Passing moments, holed up in the room. A series of displaced bodies—Molly shedding clothes like a skin, patterned silk and patched denim unfolding in his hands, slipping smooth between his fingers. Caleb a warmblooded ghost stillborn in the water, dressed and standing, watching him move. His head resting against the inside of the tiefling's knee in the dark, catching his breath after making him come—still on his knees, refusing to be touched.
And for him, that was all fine. That was enough.
