When Yeonjun pulls her hand back, there are more than a few long strands of pink hair tangled between her fingers. She’s never seen so much of it come out at once. With worry, she combs through her hair again.
The amount that comes out this time is enough that, when she balls it up - it’s the size of a dime.
“Ready to go?” Taehyun asks. Her voice is much sterner now that they’re some ways out. Deeper, bossier, not an ounce of the cutesy chipperness there’d been earlier.
She glances back just in time to see her mom’s smiling face. Her mom steps back inside. The front door shuts. Her fate, she thinks with resignation, is sealed.

Uttering ominous or prophetic voices; divining.The first thing Beomgyu thinks when he starts pulling Soobin’s magic through time is wow, what the fuck.
It’s just them in sight, huddling under the flickering light and glancing intermittently out the dark, dirty windows. There’s not even a cricket’s chirp to emphasise the silence, just the soft whirring of an old rusty fan.
“Feels like the world’s ending, doesn’t it?” his voice says. He sounds raspy, drained. It cuts straight through the tension, earning him the notorious Soobin side eye. “Don’t say that,” Soobin elbows him. “The world can’t end before you admit you lost to me at League.”
The scene bleeds away, leaving only the echo of their laughs, reckless and young. Nothing but darkness extends in front of him. The magic hums gently, like a mother singing a lullaby to her baby. It breathes and shudders and Beomgyu is holding its beating heart in his hands. The magic is alive, and he’s sitting in its mouth. Nothing else matters.
Beomgyu opens his eyes.

“Promise me you won’t open the door for anyone or anything else except me,”
Yeonjun swallows, hard. The hairs along his arms stand up on edge, and his skin prickles. He feels cold all over. It’s muffled through the door, but he can still hear the blood curdling screams. Someone’s hurt, not hurt like there’s a fight, hurt like they’re dying.
"Yeonjun?"
“I never told you my name.” He says, hoarse. Everything goes deadly silent. Then, the stranger chuckles. It’s a nice sound. Yeonjun’s still scared, though.
“We’ve met before,” he says, proudly. “I told you, didn’t I?”

Summary
Beomgyu, following his eyes, only lets out a knowing bark of laughter. “You’re after that guy?” he leans over Taehyun’s body, lying close to the floor. Beomgyu’s arm crosses over onto Taehyun’s other side, letting him twist over to peer at the casino. Taehyun doesn’t answer. He takes the silence impressively, instead leaning down to let his breath ghost over the shell of Taehyun’s ear.
“You’re not gonna get him,” he lilts, teasingly. His breath is hot against Taehyun’s ear and neck, tickling him. He pulls away too quickly, propping himself back up against the dumpster. His smile is too pleased, too mocking.
“And how do you know that, sweetheart?” Taehyun retorts mockingly. He lets his eyes glare sharply at the other boy for a precious few seconds. He doesn’t see it, then, when the casino doors swing open into the dead of the night. The drunk man tumbles out, still laughing, hand braced on the door.
“Because I’m blowing the place up,” he laughs.

Most of the time, Taehyun just tried not to think about it. So what if he didn’t know everything there was to know about one of his hyungs? Maybe it wasn’t Taehyun’s business in the first place. Maybe there was nothing to read into at all, when Beomgyu would watch him from afar with his curious, attentive eyes, or when Beomgyu listened to his worries with a soft smile, or when Beomgyu spoke to him in that hushed, gentle tone that he hid away under his loud, exuberant personality, seemingly just for him. Least of all did he want to pry into how being on the receiving end of that voice made his stomach tie itself into little strange knots.
He was overthinking it, Taehyun told himself. Anyway, it probably had nothing to do with him, so he should just move on.
Of course, he would turn out to be totally wrong.

Taehyun doesn’t know how to interpret his Beomgyu-hyung's tender attentiveness. He also can't decipher what exactly it's making him feel.
Luckily, Beomgyu is a little impatient, and decides to help him out.

Ashido clutched his shoulders. “Listen. You are the prettiest man I have ever seen. You have a rockin’ body. You are, tragically, both hot and shy.”
“I’m not—”
“Shh. What I need you to do right now is weaponize it. Give him something to think about for the rest of his life.”
