Summary
It’s the spring of ‘97 when Michael Robinavitch is dragged into a gay bar for the very first time.
When he meets Jack Abbot there, the two of them are on the cusp of radically different futures: Robby is about to begin his residency, and Jack is leaving for the army. They know better than to get attached - know the timing is wrong, the goodbye inevitable - but something tender takes root anyway. Through every deployment, Jack thinks of Robby more than he ought to; through every failed relationship, Robby wonders about what might've been.
Years later, when their paths cross again at PTMC, the past resurfaces — and though they’re older, more jaded, and scarred in different ways, they find themselves pulled towards everything they left unfinished.

Summary
Robby and Jack have known each other all their lives. They met when they were barely ten and never looked back.
Oh, life did try to separate them, on a number of occasions, but it could never succeed. Not when their link was so strong, defying logic and even common sense.
It did come close a couple times though, closer than either of them would have liked. And life didn't spare either of them even on their own. But Robby was always there for Jack. And Jack was always there for Robby. Even when they doubted it.
It was just a matter of time until they realized they were made to be together. A reasonable amount of time. Say forty years, for example. Really, how long can four decades be? Perhaps just long enough to become aware of one's undying love for their best friend. It had always been love, hadn’t it? Robby had always loved Jack. It didn’t truly matter that he hadn’t known. Because it could never erase it. It could never make it disappear. And most importantly, it was still there. Knowing had only made it more painful. It made the love he felt explode in ways his heart didn’t know how to handle.

Summary
So yeah, maybe Santos had Garcia’s driver card stuck to her bedroom mirror during her formative teenage years, and maybe that headshot of Garcia with the trademark no-nonsense look on her face played some small part in her discovering her sexuality. And maybe in the back of her mind, she was thinking of Garcia when she declared her major in mechanical engineering, when she was pulling all-nighters with the FSAE team, when she was doing her PhD at the University of Pittsburgh before everything fell apart, again. Whatever, it’s not weird.

Summary
Wordlessly, Dennis opens his arms to her. She falls forward, leaving her forehead to rest against his shoulder. They don’t hug. They never really do. But for them, this is enough: Trinity’s breathing evening out as the silence stretches out between them, Dennis looping one arm around her shoulders and patting her head gently. It’s a comfortable dance they do around their pasts, of memories they’d prefer to only allude to. Dennis thinks of it less of avoidance, but more of leaving things in the past in favour of making brighter futures, of living days that aren’t entwined with the existences of their ghosts. Maybe one of his brothers would call him unrealistic. Maybe they’d say that all roads eventually lead back to Broken Bow. Dennis has dreams of being a dreamer, though.
Dennis comes back from a night shift to find Trinity crying in her room. He's still not entirely sure on how to approach the whole comforting people when they're crying thing, but he'd like to think that he's doing the best he can.

Summary
“How’s your arm?” he says.
“How’s your pill addiction?”
Langdon’s eyes narrow. “Really?”
“Oh, you walked right into that one, buddy.”
Maybe someone laced the coffee and that’s why she’s even more snippy than usual. Langdon is still her senior resident. Not that she can bring herself to care much.
***
Trinity wants to move on, but she doesn't know how to.
