    Summary

“You consumed my food. You shared your name with me, and I mine. I held your taste in my mouth. By Fae law, we are now bound.”

    “Bound?” Varka echoes, intelligently.

“Indeed.” Flins’s eyes of molten gold feel like a physical weight on him. “Forgive my bluntness, but I sense some confusion on your part. Perhaps you desired a human marriage?”

    Marriage?”

In which Varka gets married to Flins. Unbeknownst to Varka himself.

    Summary

Five times Albedo was reduced to a blushing, stammering mess by Kaeya's brazen flirtations (involving public endearments, shirtless sketching, a read journal, and a very public dare). And the one time Albedo confessed something that left Kaeya utterly speechless.

    Summary

“I don’t understand,” Kaveh says, pacing again, running a hand through his hair with a kind of wounded artistry that makes Alhaitham’s eyelid twitch. “You read all the same texts I did. You studied the same traditions. You know what the Sophists meant. You know about the agora. The gift economy. You know rhetoric isn’t just about manipulation—it’s about response. About risk.”

“I’m aware,” Alhaitham says. “I simply disagree.”

“With—what? The entire premise of interpersonal communication?”

“With the fetishization of indeterminacy,” Alhaitham says, adjusting his gloves. “With the idea that language must be excessive, emotional, endless. That clarity is somehow oppressive. That restraint is dishonesty. That the only ‘authentic’ utterance is the one that bleeds.”

“Oh,” Kaveh breathes, like he’s just been stabbed with a particularly pretentious dagger. “Oh, so now you’re anti-poetry.”

    “I’m anti-delusion.”

“And yet you look in the mirror every morning.”

Or, how two men weaponize rhetorical praxis to avoid admitting they care.

    Summary

Five times Kaeya ruined Albedo’s carefully constructed composure (with the help of one rebellious amphibian, a mistaken bed, an illegal stargazing date, a slightly unhinged flirtation involving blood, and the subtle horror of kissing inches from Diluc’s emotional radius). And the one time Albedo shattered Kaeya’s brain with a very public kiss.

    Summary

“What did you just say to me?” Kaveh demands in Common, because someone has to play the straight man in this tragedy and for once, it will not be him.

Alhaitham turns a page. “I said,” he repeats smoothly, still in the dialect, “that your citations are structurally unsound, emotionally driven, and—if I’m being generous—historically masturbatory.”

One of the interns chokes audibly on his coffee. Another whispers, “Did he say masturbatory?” in an accent not native to anywhere known on the continent.

Kaveh’s chair screeches against the marble. He stands.

“Fine,” he says, in perfect, archaic Inazuman. “If we’re playing this game, then allow me to remind you that I studied abroad, you glorified footnote. You want to throw sand at me? I’ll drown you in calligraphy.”

Or, perhaps emotional repression is just another dialect they’ve both grown fluent in.
