Gifts weren’t exactly common in his life. Sure, Jazz and his friends had given him birthday presents, but those were… normal. Expected. This was different. This wasn’t an obligation. This wasn’t someone picking something generic off a store shelf because it was the socially appropriate thing to do.
This was thoughtful. Personal.
Something burned at the back of his eyes. He blinked rapidly, but the emotion building in his chest refused to be ignored. A tear slipped down his cheek, landing softly against the edge of the casing. Danny stared at the tiny wet spot as more tears welled up, threatening to spill over.
Oh.
He was crying.
