“Did you think me a fool?” he finally asks to break the silence, because there are so many questions burning through his mind, but that’s the one that really sticks out, now.
Anders turns to look at him, shock written across his face. “What?” he asks, blinking rapidly.
“I mean, I’m not a mage,” Hawke says. “I couldn’t possibly know something else was going on. I was never a smuggler who moved dangerous materials, so I would never understand what sela petrae is commonly used for.”
"I didn't -"
“You’re not as good of a liar as you think you are, you know,” Hawke says.

After the Chantry is nothing more than dust on the wind, Hawke and Anders have a talk about where to go from here.

“Edgeworth?” he hears. It’s Wright; he sounds panicked, and Miles, having glanced inside his room, might just know why. “I got back from the investigation and Trucy is missing. I don’t know where to look, I just -”
“Uh -” Miles says, intelligently.
"Hi, Mr. Edgeworth!" Trucy says sunnily. "Fancy meeting you here!"
Miles hadn’t been expecting anyone else to be in the room that the prosecutor’s office had reserved for him, much less a 12-year-old magician who should be hours away in Leeds with her father, who - oh, good lord.
“Well,” he says tightly. “I’ve found her.”

Summary
Maker, but Anders loves him. All of him. The way his fingers press against Anders' hips, the specific way he kisses with earnest determination and lazy understanding, the way his hand catches Anders' and runs a thumb along his wrist at every opportunity, how he'll always manage to tangle them together in their sleep even if they're in glorified cots on the ground. The way he makes Anders feel less alone, the way it's so much easier to bat away the guilt and regret and self-hatred when he's here, when Anders can touch him and see Hawke's eyes light up when they reunite again.
He's going to miss this. More than anything.

Summary
“And now, without further ado...” Trucy says, with a wide smile and a secretive wink. Her voice sounds even more excited than usual, and Phoenix leans forward as much as he can without moving away from Miles, curious. “I’d like to introduce you all to my lovely assistant for the night! It’s a special guest who we only have for today, so let’s give her a warm, loud welcome!”
“Phoenix,” Miles says urgently, knocking Phoenix’s head off of his shoulder as he turns to look at him, worried.
“... No, absolutely not,” Phoenix says, disbelieving. “She - they wouldn’t, not without telling us.”
The smoke on stage clears, and the lights come back up. Trucy stands in a single spotlight, the rest of the stage dark, and then another spotlight turns on, shining directly on -
“Kaaaaaaaaay Faraday!” Trucy announces, and Kay waves at the audience from where she’s strapped down against a large, wooden wheel.
“They absolutely would,” Miles says, resigned.

Summary
Before he can step outside, Phoenix’s hand grabs his, too warm to be a human’s touch. Their fingers link together unconsciously. Neither of them look at the other; Phoenix is turned toward the grand staircase leading to the second floor, and Miles’ gaze is resolutely set on the darkness outside. There’s a beat of silence, and Miles’ heart hammers as he waits for Phoenix to say something. The silence stretches, and Miles doesn’t dare turn his head.
He’s infinitely tired when he finally speaks up. “What are you -“
“Stay,” Phoenix says, cutting him off, and his voice cracks on the word. “Please. With the house. With the kids. With -“ He cuts himself off before he can finish, and Miles swallows heavily against what he knows Phoenix was going to say.

“Alright, Ms. Wright,” Kay says. Her eyes are unusually intense as she folds her hands together and stares over at Trucy. “I’m sure you’re wondering why I’ve called you here today.”
‘Here’ is at a table outside a small cafe in London; Trucy doesn’t know exactly where Daddy and Uncle Miles are, but she knows they’re off together working on another case. She doesn’t know all the details - Daddy has promised her to rope Uncle Miles into doing a dramatic rendition of the case when they’re back this evening, but until then, she and Kay have the run of the city.
“Please do share, Ms. Faraday,” Trucy says, inclining her head.

Trucy’s crying, a little bit; he can feel her shoulders shaking, and the shoulder of his suit is getting a bit damp.
“Truce? What’s happening, you okay?” Phoenix asks, trying not to panic.
She nods, and Phoenix feels his heart rate settle into a much calmer tempo. “Yeah, yeah, I’m okay, today was just… a lot. I didn’t want everyone to worry about me, not after everything with Athena.”
Phoenix really doesn’t know what he did to deserve her. “I always worry about you, baby. It’s in the contract.”
She laughs a bit at that. “You should have read the fine print, Daddy, that’s what you always tell me.”
As if any amount of fine print could make him regret adopting Trucy. He presses a kiss to the side of her head. “You’re worth the fine print,” he says.

He pulls the door open and all his thoughts grind to a halt.
Miles Edgeworth is standing there, dripping with rain and looking a bit like a drowned cat.
If Phoenix was being honest, he’d almost forgotten about him being back amidst the chaos of the day and the conversation with Maya. It’s a novel experience, actually; he can’t remember a time when Edgeworth wasn’t hovering, wanted or not, near the forefront of his mind. But he’s here - he’s real, standing on Phoenix’s doorstep in his dingy hallway in an apartment complex that probably costs less than Edgeworth’s entire salary, looking awkward as all hell.

“Zolf… Zolf…”
The faint, disembodied voice echoes around the chamber as the walls slowly begin to glow, casting the entire chamber in a dim blue glow. The colors change, shifting from purple, to pink, to black, to white, and then back to blue, shifting slowly through the colors as the room seems to be almost coming to life.
“Zolf…” The voice comes through again, stronger, and there’s a flash of light from the small raised platform in the center of the room where a man with a long beard and longer hair lays still. He’s covered in scars; thin white lines tracing along his skin, carving through the tattoos that have been permanently etched onto his body.

Summary
Sasha takes a deep breath, hands tightening on the rope. She leans back and then throws herself forward, clinging for dear life. There are yells of frustration behind her, but she doesn’t look back. Just as the rope reaches its apex she lets go, flying through the air as she safely collides with the rigging of another ship, hands desperately scrabbling at the rope. She looks back now, heart racing with the adrenaline, and her stomach sinks as she realises that the men chasing her haven’t given up, and are just going the long way around to intercept her. She swears under her breath and grunts as she hauls herself up.
