Thrill zips up Will's spine. The words are straight out of a fantasy, out of a dream he's certain he's had about Mike, before.
His hands grip the sheets under him. Mike must've meant it in a different way. Might've used his words wrong. He's a writer, but he's rash with his words. Not as purposeful, as clear with his intentions as people usually are. Will's reading into this, like he always does.
"Have you ever…" And here, Mike's hesitation makes him meet Will's eyes again. Will's breath catches at the sight. His pupils are blown out, his breath uneven. He looks hungry.
"Have you ever touched yourself, Will?"

Will bit his lip. He didn’t want to admit that he understood where Dustin was coming from, because he had noticed. He could see it in Mike’s eyes whenever they met his own, that intense look, that blazing look. Like a fire burning in brown irises. Will swallowed.

So, Mike likes guys. Fine, Will can live with that. Except now Mike's worried about having fallen behind and would really like some help practicing how to kiss a guy from his also-into-guys best friend. And Will is trying really, really hard to be a good mentor to him, so what is he going to do, say no?

Will might still be a little tipsy too, so there isn’t much he can hide in his current state, and Mike is secretly grateful for that because that makes it possible for him to notice that Will is blushing.

"I can't move," Mike groaned, dragging himself upward in a slow, punishing slide that made Will’s breath hitch.

Mike is convinced he’s broken. After a string of disastrous dates and a girl walking out of his dorm mid-hookup because he’s "too much," he’s spiraling. He decides he needs to practice, and the only person he trusts is Will.
Will agrees to a month of no-strings experimentation just to be close to him, but the line between "practice" and reality disappears the second they’re behind a locked door. Mike isn't just learning how to move; he's learning that he never wanted those girls in the first place. -

“What do you think about,” Will tries again, gesturing vaguely with his hands—hands that don’t feel entirely connected to the rest of him. “When you…” He trails off, face heating. He makes another gesture with his hands, one that he sees guys do in the hallways to gross each other out.
Mike’s mouth curves upward, slow and amused. His eyes are heavy-lidded, glassy in the lamplight.
“Jerk off?” he supplies, almost playfully.
