Thin, deep cuts marred the left side of her face, trailing down her cheek like claw marks. Her abdomen had several gashes, some shallow, some deeper, sluggishly weeping crimson. But it was her lower half that stopped him cold.
He had expected legs.
Instead, where her hips should have met thighs, her skin shifted, darkening into smooth, iridescent scales. A deep blue that shimmered in the moonlight, reflecting shades of violet and silver with every breath she took. Long, powerful, unnatural. A tail.

Ekko traps the head of a bad nail between the grips of his hammer and works it out of a half-rotten plank. He sets it on a pile of other rusty nails.
“I guessed.”
“No. You knew.”
There’s no accusation in her tone, just a matter-of-fact statement. Calling him out on his bullshit.
Ekko gets to working on another nail. He doesn’t respond. But he doesn’t deny it, either.
He hears her let out a breath through her nose. Like she’s figured something out. Maybe she has; she always knew him too well. He sort of hoped that after all this time, she couldn’t still do that.
But somehow, he’s not surprised.

While she was at it, why not send her dads a message? Like, hey, guess who got a new phone? She got down to the V, about to click on Vander's contact to tell him of her newest adventure, when an emoji caught her attention.
It was the only contact with an emoji in place of a name. More specifically, a thumbs down emoji.
Jinx had no clue who it was. Neither did she remember ever creating the contact. She opened up the log, but there wasn't even a message history between them. She was insanely curious over who they could be.
She opened up their contact, typing out a ‘Hey so I saved your number as 👎. Any idea what might have caused this??’ before clicking send.
The reply came a few minutes later.
👎: Guess who?
After finding a mysterious contact on her phone, Jinx finds herself roped into a never-ending guessing game, the stranger on the other end of the line both closer and farther than she could've ever expected.

Summary

“Pretend to be my boyfriend.” She simply asked, like it was the most natural request in the world, because to her, it was.
“W-what?”
Jinx grasped his broad shoulders in her hands. “Listen to me!” She hissed and he swallowed, eyes wide open. She knew she must've looked deranged, her eyes were effortlessly analyzing every inch of his face. Her grip on his shoulder tightened, like holding onto him would ground her spiraling free thoughts. “I need you to pretend you're my boyfriend. Just for tonight,” Somehow, his eyes kept getting wider and wider. His gaze softened to complete disbelief.
“Is this a joke?”

Jinx is being bothered nonstop by a guy during a party. Men don't usually listen to women, but they do listen to men, so Jinx finds herself asking the only other familiar face around a favour. Ekko enters a fake relationship with Jinx to avoid sticky situations. It was supposed to last only one night, but things get out of control and leads up to unexpected real sparks between them.

Summary
Silco's... not a good parent. As much as he loves his daughter, he has a few flaws when it comes to her. But he can explain it all away, from slipping drugs into her tea to keep her his perfect little girl to keeping her safe away from the world. He can even explain giving her to the Enforcers in exchange for Zaun - after all, they've given their word that Jinx is not to be harmed.
Ekko, meanwhile, went to the bridge upon overhearing the Enforcers' plans to capture Jinx on their radios - she's too far gone, and as the last person who knew Powder as well as the leader of the Firelights, it's his job to put her down.
But after rescuing her instead upon realizing Jinx is still at least a little Powder, when he learns that 'Jinx' the persona isn't real but instead a defense mechanism, upon learning about the drugs in her system and the pain and fear inflicted on her, he insists she can be saved.
And thus begins the rest of her life.
(Featuring childhood-friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers Timebomb, a complicated relationship between Jinx and Silco, genius Firelight bioengineer Jinx/Powder, and Jinx proving she's stronger and better than anyone gives her credit for.)

The tears all rushed back, as she threw herself onto him- hanging by his shoulder with one of her arms and the other, gripping onto the clothes around his waist “Save her!”
Surprised at the sudden contact, the desperation in her voice, and the fact that he had no context as to what had just happened, he wasn’t sure what to do- so for a second, she clung onto him, shoulders shaking as she cried.
“Who?” he questioned, looking around for an answer.
