She hadn’t really meant to do it at the moment. Really, she hated to pry. But her ability just meant her world was a little louder than everyone else's. Maybe it's why she seemed to crave silence. The voices around her seeped into her mind, invading the silence. They were a quiet whisper in the back of her mind, barely noticeable, just enough to be present. If she pushed hard enough, she could single them out, spread out her radius, targeting specific people and push through the boundaries of their brain to hear what they had to say.
She was no stranger to the occasional indecent thought of others accidentally slipping through, but this felt intense. It felt like a private moment, a longing dreamt up by someone who craved another.

When he becomes a leading character in the anonymous letters, well, he gets a little more curious. Lance becomes determined to unveil the writer and find out a) what is his problem exactly and b) does he really think Lance's eyes are that blue?
A tale in which Lance is oblivious and pining for the hot nerd in the back of his Greek mythology class, Keith can wield a pen with deadly cruelty, and you, dear readers, suffer from the pains of dramatic irony.

“Great catch you got there.”
Lance pushed back the shock that Keith Kogane was actually talking to him and managed a scowl.
“Strangely enough, he didn’t mention being an absolute ass in his profile.”
He got a chuckle from that and couldn’t help a pleased warmth from rising in his chest. Dropping his chin in his hand, he watched as Keith finished bussing the table.
Keith was still wearing those stupid fingerless leather gloves that all the girls fawned over, but traded in his typical black sweatpants and hoodie for an equally black pair of jeans and matching T-shirt.
He looked unfairly attractive, as usual.
Lance blinked, pushing that intrusive thought away and instead focusing on another.
“Keith,” he leaned forward, clasping his hands together. “You gotta help me, my man.”

Summary
"Lance had watched Keith Kogane win a bar fight with a broken hand, rip open a keg with a knife, and complete a whole wretched ensemble of activities you definitely shouldn’t do with a beer in hand.
And yet here he was, glittery Sharpie in hand, waiting to sign Lucy’s copy of Altea.
Lance opened his mouth to say something arguably rude and not appropriate for their current audience. Until he remembered that he himself had either watched or participated in these activities and was now holding a four-year-old containing his DNA. So Lance didn’t have much of a leg to stand on either."
When Lance runs into his ex-boyfriend at a children’s book signing, he not only finds out that Keith Kogane ages like fine wine, but he also apparently wrote his daughter’s favorite book. As Keith lingers in town, Lance frantically tries to keep his daughter from realizing that the writer is not only a person from Lance’s past, but a character in her bedtime stories as well.
