Nothing that has ever caught Reki’s eye in terms of value to steal has held it like the necklace in the elf’s possession, and not just because it looks extremely valuable with its gold chain, diamond and emerald gems. The green jewels, vibrant in color as a forest during the summer, hang in the shapes of teardrops, encrusted inside smaller diamonds. Reki can almost imagine its weight around his neck and the way it might hang over his collarbones and he shivers.
Or: Reki only signed up for this job of thievery because of circumstances, but he ends up stealing for himself more than just a necklace from a certain elf.

Because Reki’s not enough to provide that kind of a challenge or thrill. He’s only been a milk supply for Langa to feed from to get better, get well again, get into shape again. Now that he is all those things, of course he would leave Reki and reach out for better, more challenging aspects of life. For everything he can have and deserves.
Reki’s ruined himself for him. Created this ache in his body that won’t go away. Has been made into a new, uglier, soiled version of himself to keep Langa close. And it still hadn’t been enough.
So Reki pushed him away before Langa could say it. That he didn’t need Reki anymore. That Adam was so much better than him. That Reki didn’t matter to him anymore.
Or: Reki tries to push Langa away, but fortunately for him, it hardly works out.

Keith closes his eyes and thinks of the team’s cutting words, thinks of all the times he was alone and desperately wished for someone to ask him if he was okay, to pay enough attention to know that he was not. He thinks of Shiro pushing him down roughly onto the mattress, the bruises on his hip and the arguments they can’t stop having and says, “Yeah. I suppose that’s part of it.”
