Sukuna died and got reincarnated in a world where curses don't exist. Yet he remembers everything from his previous life, dreaming to bring humanity to his feet again if it wasn't for his, well, paws, because Sukuna is a dog now. Getting used to this new body and weird instincts is one thing. Acknowledging his intelligence and sensitive smell to make him a diabetic-alert dog is another. Then an unexpected yet familiar person comes to his training center, and Sukuna is suddenly very determined to become their partner.
Or: Sukuna is a service dog, and Yuuji has diabetes. The first one needs to help survive the latter. Ironic, isn't it? Not enough. Let's make them very attached to each other in the process!

“I think it’s perfectly acceptable that I’m untrusting of a demon,” Megumi responds, cutting him off.
The grin Sukuna gives him in return simultaneously makes his blood run cold and lights a fire in his veins. “One of the many things I appreciate about you.”
Megumi pauses, thinking, wondering if he really can trust a demon of all things, let alone one claiming to have been following him and protecting him for years. Still, he can’t deny the string of coincidences that suddenly make sense, and he certainly can’t ignore the fact that this demon did just protect him. “If you really are my guardian demon or whatever,” he says, stepping out of the alley and onto the street, “then get back to work.”
Megumi can’t see the demon’s face but he can hear the amusement in his tone when he answers with: “Anything you wish.”

“Kenjaku,” he said in Yuuji’s small, toddler voice. It wobbled, but held in a dignified manner. Or what he considered such.
“It really is you.” She leaned back onto the bathroom wall across from the sink that his and Yuuji’s body sat on top of. She laughed, running a hand down her face. “I cannot believe this— centuries of planning all turned down in an instant, all because of a stupid toddler sticking his hands where he doesn’t belong.”
“Wh— where was the finger?” He struggles to enunciate. And is a bit offended on Yuuji’s behalf for his mother saying such hurtful comments straight to his own face.
Kenjaku smirks at his trouble, but then sombers. “Never you mind that. It is partly the fault of that— that imbecilic father of his that he found the finger, is all to say.”
Ah, sweet confirmation. But that also does bring more questions than the relief of an answer.
For better or for worse Ryomen Sukuna has been a voice in Yuuji’s head for as long as he can remember.
