"Clarke, please. I-""I said leave." The irritation bubbled to the surface, this time stronger, more forceful. I wasn’t going to let her finish.
Her lips parted as if she were about to say more, but I didn’t give her the chance. I slammed the door shut and clicked the deadbolt into place.
"‘Clarke, please’ what?" I muttered bitterly to myself. Did she want to explain why breaking my heart was necessary for her career? Or maybe to justify how abandoning me was all part of her plan? I had already spent years piecing that puzzle together, on my own, and I didn’t need to hear it from her.
I’ve heard enough news stories about her success and her career to last a lifetime, and enough social media vloggers “spilling the tea” on the latest Lexa Wood controversy. Not to mention her stupidly perfect face was on literally everything. God… I was so sick of Lexa Woods. And I definitely didn't need even more bullshit about her...FROM HER.
