Summary
Jack Wilder goes missing two months after the London show, dragged off the street outside the Eye's Portland safehouse by people itching to see how long it took to break a Horseman.
This isn't about the breaking, though. This is about the finding, and the healing, and the becoming. The Horsemen will rewrite the world to keep their formerly-missing member safe--but in the meantime, they'll paint his room and make milkshakes and sit through the nightmares and the panic attacks, and everything will be okay.
They're a team, after all. They're always going to look out for each other.

Summary
Boimler and Mariner are captured by suspicious aquatic aliens on an away mission - aliens who weren't even supposed to exist on this planet. Trapped far below the ocean's surface in a hidden underwater city, communication issues are making it difficult to convince their captors they mean no harm, and the clashing of their own protective instincts for each other isn't helping things either. Especially when there might be more behind those instincts than either of them is willing to admit.
Maybe being trapped in a cell together will give them a chance to talk about some things. If the torture isn't too distracting.
Set after season 4 episode 3 initially, and continuing through the rest of season 4 and after.

Maybe this isn’t the awful thing it feels like. Perhaps whatever lingers in his blood that overrides his control is something intended to help, to make him better.
The thought doesn’t alleviate any of the terror that still swirls behind his ribcage, threatens to spill over and sink its icy teeth into his bones — but it’s something he clings to, nonetheless. He’ll figure it out, and stop it, and in the meantime it could be a good thing. He hasn’t figured out how to apologise, yet — but the logical first step would be to keep them happy, make sure he stays in their good graces and doesn’t do anything to further aggravate them.
He doesn’t like the idea, but if this — thing, this compulsion helps to make him more palatable, more tolerable and easier to be around, perhaps he’ll be allowed to stay long enough to make it up to them. He might be able to turn it into a good thing before he finds out how to end it, before it wears off. He’ll just wait it out.

J. Daniel Atlas ends up cursed, he thinks. It takes a while for the others to notice. In the meantime, he tries to stay sane. It's surprisingly difficult when your mind isn't your own, anymore.

This is a story that ultimately demonstrated my acceptance of the circumstances in which Tim got a dog in season 5 (I wrote the story during season 6). I absolutely loathed the episode Dog Tags and it was my least favorite episode in the series until Mother's Day in season 7 beat it out.
Warning: This is a fairly gruesome story, not particularly graphic but I leave no doubt about what is happening.
The title comes from a saying by Kafka: "All knowledge, the totality of all questions and all answers is contained within the dog."
