"You're going to get yourself fired." A beat passes, tense silence filling the room. "Or killed," Cleo adds on, casting a wary glance over at Joel.
"You know, I can hear you," Joel mumbles under his breath. His voice is scratchy and rough from the pain that comes along with nearly dying, and his arms wrap themselves even tighter around Etho's neck.
OR: Joel almost dies. Lucky thing (or unlucky, depending how you look at it) that Etho knows exactly where to find him.
