He was the Avatar. He belonged to the world, not her.
Katara broke up with Aang when the demands of the world became too much but the Avatar is a hard act to follow. After five years Zuko arranges a peace summit in the Imperial City and they're all invited to attend. Reunion fic that's probably been done to death before but the world needs more Kataang. It gets more mature as we go on.
Update: The fic used to be called 'Helpless'. I've done a massive overhaul so it's a very different story.

There Aloy and Avad 'get to know one another properly' and carve out a little slice of peace before the world goes to hell again.

Features: Alina being essentially a Knight Enchantress, Slavic folklore, Mal being a side character, and lots of ominous (sexual) tension with the Darkling. They do something about it in the last chapter.
