Summary
In a kind of poetic turn of events, Charles Leclerc drives his Scuderia Ferrari Formula One race car into the barriers of the Red Bull Ring on an early July afternoon in 2023 while trying to defend his position against Mercedes’ George Russell in the 52th lap of the race.
Instead, Leclerc’s car goes into understeer, locks up, and runs off track into the barriers before almost anyone is able to react. Leclerc’s race engineer can be heard on the radio requesting a health check- his request will not be fulfilled. In fact he, along with the rest of the world, will not get a reply at all. The 2023 Austrian Grand Prix is red-flagged almost immediately, and it does not resume.

The flooring across the small space between Max’s walls is going to dent soon from how fast Charles is walking, from one wall to the next, all the while Max is sat on top of his his bed next to his open suitcase that he had been packing when Charles had shuffled inside and quietly closed the door behind him before he started yelling.
Not at Max, thankfully. He’d been on his best behaviour today. Well, to Charles at least.
“His man?!” Charles was saying, throwing his hands up in the air incredulously. “His man?! Why would they even say that on a live broadcast? Do you know how many texts my family has sent us asking if we decided to go public without telling them? God, Max has now got his man, what?”

“Oh yeah, I wanted to marry him and everything. I had one of his posters on my bedroom wall for like a year when I was 15, right before I started high school. I took it down before I started Hillerska, but I’m sure it’s still in some box somewhere. His hair is so shiny, have you ever noticed?” He asks, as if he’s not just upended Wilhelm’s entire existence.
He knows he shouldn’t let this continue, Simon’s drugged out of his mind and doesn’t know what he’s saying and none of it might even be true, so he responds with “Simon, you know that I’m Prince Wilhelm, right?”
