    Warning! This is NOT a light and breezy fic. Mind the trigger warnings listed in the first chapter. I mean it. When I wrote one of these chapters, I gagged. Literally. Managed to trigger myself a couple dozen times throughout the rest of the story. Be safe and prioritize your mental health, friends. I’d love for you to read my story, but not at your expense.

    Bucky loves Steve. Of course he does, Steve's his best friend. He just wishes that's all the love he had for Steve.
    Steve and Bucky learn each other, lose each other, and find each other again. It's a love story with tons of feels and probably way too much smut. But that's how life is sometimes.

    This is my rewrite of how 'Civil War' could have gone if the guys running the MCU weren't cowards and just gave us our damn love story. No Sokovian Accords. Thanos is taken care of off screen. This fic is canon-compliant (mostly) ONLY until the beginning of Civil War. Then, I took a hard left turn and never looked back.

    This series explores a parallel-to-canon "What if" Hydra experimented with occult legends of a more demonic bent. When Bucky is captured at Azzano, the seeds of something more insidious than a knock-off super soldier serum are planted in him, but the full effects take some time to completely set in. Bucky struggles to deal with a building libido and facing the realization that he's changing, but he's not sure into what, while trying to protect Steve from being drug down with him.

    In hindsight he knows that he saw this coming. He recognised the signs with more than enough time to have alerted May, or anyone on what he knew was progressing. But in the end, he just really wanted it to not be true. Just to be a figment of his paranoid over-reactive teenage mind, conjuring up the worst possible scenario. Maybe he had just seen it so much out on the streets as Spiderman that he was bringing it home with him, still seeing the darkness in those kinds of people's eyes… in the way they moved and spoke. Or maybe he had just assumed that the blearing alarms of his spider-sense from the moment he shook hands with the guy was just aftershocks of the armed robbery he had just wrapped up only moments ago.

    Hindsight can be a real bitch sometimes.
