Frodo had always been rather quiet for a Brandybuck and would often stand on the edge of parties, only ever joining the fun when Sam or his cousins insisted on dragging him into it. But now he rarely left the hobbit hole under the hill. And she couldn’t remember the last time she heard him laugh or felt the warmth of one of his smiles.
And Rosie Cotton, who was born under a merry hour and scarcely ever frowned, suddenly looked back towards Frodo’s room and couldn’t help it. She was so worried about him.
