“You’ve met all my family, Bumi. You, your sister, brother, mother, everyone else- they’re my family too.”
Bumi gives him a skeptical look. Aang bites back a smile at how much he looks like his uncle for a moment.
“I know that, I meant when do we get to meet the other Airbenders and stuff.”
Aang sighs. He should have known that their children would inherit Katara’s stubbornness and refusal to accept his sidestepping. He’d just thought he’d have more time before having to talk about… this.

Summary
Aang knew grief like an old friend. In his youth, it had been painful to grapple with the idea that the Air Nomads were gone, that he was truly alone. He knew deep down that no matter what he did, that weight on his shoulders was so heavy it would follow him into his next life. Spirits help his successor.
But this time, it was different. This was new. The emptiness that often accompanied the pit in Aang’s stomach was replaced with something sickening. His body rejected the possibility of Bumi’s death like poison. It wasn’t real. He had to be alive.
OR: When he's 19, Bumi II gets hurt in the United Forces and his family is told he is missing in action. Aang and Katara try to be there for their son and Tenzin and Kya navigate the new dynamic as friends and family rally aorund them. We explore family dynamics, being biracial, trauma, and being okay with being not okay.

“Abe-kun,” Mihashi exhales, and his breath still smells like mint from when they brushed their teeth an hour ago. God, normally Abe would be asleep by now. But this is his job as the catcher. He knows Mihashi, when left to his own devices, will spend his nights worrying away the hours. He learned that well during their first golden week training camp. Now, as they near the start of their second golden week together, Mihashi’s anxious insomnia has come back with a vengeance.
“What are you thinking about,” Abe asks, and Mihashi takes so long to answer, Abe would have thought he’d fallen asleep again save for the tremble of his hand in Abe’s.
“Abe-kun,” Mihashi replies, way too long after the question was posed.
Abe frowns. “That’s not an answer,” he says, because really? Is that all he has to say after a minute of agonizing silence?
“I was…thinking…about Abe-kun,” Mihashi rephrases. Abe turns his face into his pillow, and the cool fabric feels soothing on his hot cheeks. Why is he so flushed?

Some part of him is still that kid watching the Little Giant and thinking that one day that’ll be him - the ace everyone is in awe of. He wants people to whisper as he walks by, he wants people to stare and move out of his way and say there goes the ace, see how cool he is? How good? That’s the one we’ve got to watch out for.
Kenma is always watching out for him. Hinata sees the way Kenma stares at him during practice matches, body still and eyes scarily focused on every single one of Hinata’s movements, and relishes it. Kenma thinks Hinata is something interesting, something dangerous, and it shows in the way Kenma - whose mind is always taking in every single thing on the court - focuses so much of his attention on the redhead.
