completely fucking obsessed with this story !! everything about it just hits, from the writing to the plot to the characterization of both Ilya and Shane, all of it ! what I loved the most is how we stayed inside Ilya’s head the whole time, which made us readers, understand and see more of his thoughts, his love, his doubts, the constant questioning of what he has with Shane. but also the tenderness, the fragility, the softness, that almost painful kind of love that comes with being in love with someone like Shane when you’re a Ilya. that’s what makes their relationship, in this story, so damn beautiful to read :(
naaaaah i’m in love with this and I’m definitely gonna read it, again and again and again.

“Who reminds me so much of her,” Miguel hears his voice crack, loud as a clap of lightning in the quiet. “And the way he loves her, it’s the way I loved Gabby, right down to the last detail. And I thought it would fucking hurt too much to be around them, but it didn’t. It doesn’t. It’s amazing, it’s…it’s something I don’t even have the words for.”
“And he needs to know that I’m scared . I’m fucking terrified, every second of the goddamn day. Because the last time I had this kind of family, it was torn away from me. And I really, really can’t have that happen again. I won’t survive it.”
“We’re not going anywhere,” Peter tells him.
