« Peut-être que c’est ce dont j’essaie de me convaincre. Pourtant, il ne me semble pas que cela soit vrai. »

"She startles and seems to suddenly be out of her torpor. Her big blue eyes roam the landscape, her eyes falling over the ridgeline above them as well. Good reflex, he thinks. Then Senua turns to Thorgestr, meeting his gaze. He thinks the blue of her eyes doesn’t stand out as brightly as it did now that her face isn’t drenched in blood anymore. They were piercing during their confrontation on the beach. The corners of his lips twitch.
“Who taught you how to fight?”, he asks, in order to engage conversation."

Many days of walking await Senua and her group after they leave Bardarvik in direction of Borgavirki. As they set off for the last step of their journey, it gives Senua and Thorgestr the opportunity to get to know each other.
It is in this wild nature, in those expanses devoid of any human presence, in the shadows of night, that Thorgestr, little by little, realizes the extent of the affection he feels for the young woman.

"Elle sursaute et semble soudain sortir de sa torpeur. Ses grands yeux bleus parcourent le paysage, se posent eux aussi sur la crête qui les surplombe. Bon réflexe , pense-t-il. Puis Senua se tourne vers Throgestr, rencontrant son regard. Il se dit que le bleu de ses yeux ne ressort plus aussi bien maintenant que son visage n’est plus maculé de sang. Ils étaient perçants durant leur affrontement sur la plage. Les coins de ses lèvres se soulèvent.
“Qui t’a appris à te battre?”, demande-t-il pour engager la conversation."

De nombreux jours de marche attendent Senua et son groupe après leur départ de Bardarvik en direction de Borgavirki. Alors qu'ils se mettent en route pour la dernière étape de leur voyage, cela donne l'occasion à Senua et Thorgestr d'apprendre à se connaître.
C'est dans cette nature sauvage, dans ces étendues dépourvues d'aucune présence humaine, dans les ténèbres de la nuit, que Thorgestr prend peu à peu conscience de l'affection qu'il ressent pour la jeune femme.

Desmond put voir que c’était effectivement le symbole de la Confrérie. Il ne baissa pas son pistolet pour autant. Cela ne parut pas décontenancer l’homme. Il semblait avoir quelques années de plus que lui, peut-être ving-cinq ans. Il était blond, et plutôt grand.
“Je m’appelle Clay, et toi?”, demanda-t-il. Desmond voyait très bien ce qu’il essayait de faire: gagner sa confiance, mais après ce qu’il venait de vivre il n’était pas aussi enclin à la donner que d’habitude.
“Desmond”, finit-il par répondre, avec une voix enrouée.

Des années après avoir quitté la Ferme pour un autre centre de formation d'Assassins, Desmond se voit contraint de renouer avec ses parents lorsque ledit centre est attaqué par les Templiers. L'Assassin qui le sauve d'une mort certaine ce jour-là pourrait bien se révéler d'une aide précieuse une fois à bord de l'Altaïr II. Cependant, des liens inattendus se forment, et la vie de Desmond est sur le point de changer à jamais.

Bob hesitates again. Then he pulls his arm back—still straddling John—and goes for it. A clean punch, not fast, but committed.
John is lonely and somewhat depressed, but so is Bob. Somewhere along the line, they get used to each other’s silences, odd as they find it.

What surprised Gi-hun the most, he realized, wasn't that he survived the fall. Against all odds.
What did... Gi-hun, six months after the final game and the hospitalization, turned his head sideways and sighed, the Front Man's — Hwang In-ho's — hair did tickle his nose a little. He didn't have it in his heart to push In-ho away. Not when In-ho was sleeping and making a small noise from his slightly parted lips.
What surprised Gi-hun the most was this new life he now shared with the Front Man.
