“Look, Soobinnie, we've been through this. It was one time, okay?”
Yeonjun put on his whiniest voice, the voice that always got him his way. He batted his eyelashes towards Soobin, trying not to giggle at the pink flush that scattered his cheeks. To distract, the latter scoffed, leaning away from Yeonjun.
So he took the break in proximity to shift his attention to Kai.
“Kai, you've got to hear me out. Cheating isn't my thing, but I guess relationships aren't my thing either… but anyway! I wouldn't cheat if I didn't have a good reason.”
“I literally already asked you why,” Kai said flatly.
Yeonjun was aware that Kai had asked him that, and honestly, he was buying himself time. He had a response that was a low blow, and he had to hesitate.
“Well, as wonderful and as perfect as my cute little Soobininie is… He’s also the worst sex I've ever had. I'm sorry.”
OR
In which Soobin and Yeonjun are two drama students with way too much time on their hands, so they try to convince a couple's therapist to repair their broken relationship.

“So do you normally already have tinsel in your hair by now or is that just a treat for me?” Soobin questioned, plucking a glittery strand out from Yeonjun’s dark hair.
“Keep going and I’ll shove mistletoe up your nose.” Yeonjun smiled sweetly, smacking a hand against Soobin’s chest before correcting himself, standing upright and brushing off his shirt, slightly nervous that it wasn’t just his hair interwoven with decorations.
“If you wanna kiss me so bad..” The younger smirked, not missing how Yeonjun’s cheeks began glowing like the end of Rudolph’s nose.

After their latest variety show, Yeonjun felt humiliated. Not because he went the farthest in the infamous pepero game—far from it—but because he backed out like a flustered schoolboy the second things got too close. He told himself it was just for fun. No big deal. No feelings. No meaning. So why did it feel like he’d failed some kind of invisible test?
Choi Yeonjun, a prude? Not quite. He was just… momentarily spiraling over a five-second variety show bit like it was a life-altering moment. The realization that maybe intimacy wasn’t some sacred, untouchable thing left him rattled. What if casual kisses and impulsive touches weren’t dirty little secrets, but just another way people connect? Honestly. Comfortably. Without fear.
So who better to ask for help than Soobin who made it all look easy, played along without pushing too far, laughed without flinching, and knew how to slow things down. He was warm. Safe. A sure thing.
The next pepero stick wouldn’t stand a chance. But neither would Yeonjun’s heart.
Or, after getting absolutely owned by Huening Kai during a game, Yeonjun cannot stop thinking about it. Desperate to shake the embarrassment, he turns to someone who’s always been safe: Soobin.

“Ah… I don’t really remember names.”
A funny smile quirks Yeonjun’s lips. There’s something in his eyes, an emotion Soobin doesn’t know the name for. He squeezes Soobin’s thigh once, briefly, and lets his hand relax again. “You remembered mine,” he points out. “We’d never even talked before.”
“You’re not just any coworker,” Soobin starts, immediately jumping to defend himself. If there’s something Soobin can’t stand, it’s letting somebody get the last word. Unfortunately for Soobin, this usually backfires on him, and with a stab of mortification he realizes a second too late after the words slip from his lips that this is one of those moments where he’s been handed a shovel and has started to dig.
“Oh?” Yeonjun’s eyes glitter. “Am I not?”

Soobin has been living in a monotonous cycle of work-eat-sleep, and after a long day at the office, is resigned to head home and do it all over again. On his way out, he runs into his ethereally pretty coworker, Yeonjun, who changes his entire life in a single night.

This little exchange between them always left Yeonjun wondering if it was the first and last time that he would ever ask him that question.
He never knew that the question would weave itself through the years, always lingering at the back of his mind.
(Or, Soobin and Yeonjun are childhood friends, growing up together and somehow, they end up falling in love with a question and answer that they wind up chasing after so many years.)
