Monica can’t bring herself to say it. But when she sits down on the edge of the bed, and Rachel’s eyes flit from the dress to Monica’s hands as they fall back down to her stomach, it seems like Rachel gets it. “Oh, honey, no.”
“You saw how many parties I catered,” Monica says. Her hands make their way up to her face. “I guess I got ahead of myself. I don’t know. Maybe we shouldn’t go out tonight.”
As soon as she says it, she cringes. God, how humiliating, to lose herself over some stomach fat like this in front of someone who knew her before she dropped the pounds in the first place. Monica feels the bed shift, and prepares herself for the arm rub, for the typical Rachel sweetness that she’s not sure she deserves right now. But what she hears instead is, “You know I’ve always loved your hips?”
After a particularly stressful holiday season, Monica finds she's...put on a few pounds again. She's convinced this will change things with Rachel. Thankfully, Rachel is more than happy to show her it doesn't.
