    Maybe Annabeth wasn't a friend, but she sure didn't have a problem betraying him before, he wasn't about to risk it.

    Percy doesn't take Annabeth on his quest to find the Master Bolt. For Percy, little changes. For Annabeth, everything changes.

This is his role alone in the prophecy. But alone means a chance to finally let loose without fear of harming those he is loyal to. He realizes something else, fate rights itself, he hadn’t fallen into the pit in the first quest but he is here now.
    Perhaps he has always been destined to fall into Tartarus.
