Summary

Drake extends his hand again. "Then keep going. Make it a reading."
Hawkins looks at his hand then glances back up at him. His hair is more brown than red in this light and his expression is difficult to decipher, it's a combination between eager and tentative. The mask that Hawkins has always found rather silly, looks somewhat charming now.
He takes Drake’s hand again. This time the touch is different. Before, he just wanted to get it over with and have his peace, but now he's taking his time carefully studying each line, turning his hand over to the sides, taking note of each crease and fold. There is no warmth to the touch, both of their hands are cold, but there is firmness and certainty and something else too.
OR: After Wano, Drake keeps trying, undeterred by the amount of times his help gets refused and his gestures denied. He would try forever if he could, but he's running out of time. The Marines will soon turn on him and all the pirates will know him as the traitor he is and there will be no place in the world for him anymore.
If only Hawkins could forgive him before then.
