Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

For a while, neither of them spoke. They sat in a heavy silence, just the two of them. Aang looking up, Zuko staring straight ahead. He thought again of his cousin, of his mangled family and all they took, and how Aang had always, somehow, been at the center of it.
“You were dreaming about him, weren’t you?” Zuko said, suddenly. His chest tightened at the realization. It came together all at once, like someone had whispered the answer in his ear. Aang shifted beside him. His eyes almost flashed in the moonlight. “Of Roku.” Zuko clarified, though they both knew who he meant.

Ouch.
That’s all Wukong could think. He was invincible, but not against pain coming from his own body. He sniffled and held his middle… His kid was supposed to be here and he was curled up in pain over something that happened almost every decade! He pulled himself up onto his couch.
Knowing MK (his baby with his silly dirty face and his big ol’ smile), he’d want to train today. He could imagine the dimples disappearing from those ruddy cheeks as he told MK that he couldn’t train today, for a reason he couldn’t tell him. MK would be so upset and he’d let him down again and- WuKong forced himself up off of his couch, gasping at his body’s protests.
Wukong tries to hide his menstrual cycle (and his incurable longing), but MK is more perceptive than he thought.

Things were weird. They didn't talk about it.
Macaque was coming by again. The first time had been at night, so soon after they'd both been freed that the ground around them was still littered with jagged ice stalagmites, now inert. They were already melting. They would be gone on their own eventually.
Wukong watched him pummel one into slush.
After a minute, he wordlessly stepped out and helped crush them to puddles with their bare hands. The extent of her influence left the two of them working for the better part of an hour before they could no longer see any on the horizon. Their work done, Macaque had slunk back into the shadows.But he came back. Again, at night. He kept to the trees, nosing into his scarf and whiling the night away reclined and stealing whatever fruit grew at hand. He didn't sleep. Wukong would have been a hypocrite to bring it up. He was gone again come morning, always seeming to slip away when Wukong had his eyes off him.
Night five of that, and Wukong left the shack door ajar.
Night seven, and Macaque came inside.

Summary
MK has dreamed about going on a journey alongside Wukong and with the rest of the pilgrims countless times. Fighting demons, telling jokes, and bonding with each other despite experiencing rocky arguments, yet in the end, always forgiving each other has been his dream throughout his childhood but it was just that. A dream. Since he didn't even think Sun Wukong, The Monkey King, actually existed so all of his thoughts were nothing but a child’s innocent fantasy.
But as MK comes to find an empty campsite with several bowls of rice in his hand, which he went to beg for even though it was Zhu Bajie’s turn this time, he realizes that there was a lot more stuff left out from his mentor’s stories than he thought.
Like.
A lot.

Things go a bit differently when MK ends up as Sun Wukong in the cursed scroll.
