“You have to help me. They got him.” Wemmbu said suddenly, Flame raised an eyebrow.

“The law. They took him. They took Egg.”

“Flame bro what the hell are you doing?” Wemmbu asked. He saw Flame tense then slump. He brought out a device and clicked a button.
“How did you know bro?!” He exclaimed, voice back to normal. Wemmbu burst into laughter again. “Stop laughing bro!”
“I should sue you for copyright bro! You basically stole my whole look!”
“Oh my god shut up.” Flame groaned.
“If you had my trims we would’ve a problem.”
“Shut up!”

Egg always admired Wemmbu’s hair.
The shimmer that overtook it in the light, the lovely purple colour, the fact it grew faster than he’s seen any mortal’s hair ever grow.
Maybe it was because it was so interesting that Egg liked nights like these. Nights he could braid and style it to whatever he wanted, as long as he brushed it out the next morning. And, the best part, Wemmbu said he hated it most of the time. When Egg proudly announced he’d finished and shoved a mirror at the other man’s face, the other would scowl or sigh or pout.
He could tell, though. The angel could always tell. Something about the look on his face every time said something else.

The thing about Egg is, he’s not a fighter. It’s something Wemmbu has grown accustomed to over the years, and honestly, he wouldn’t have it any other way. The two of them work well like this: Wemmbu protects Egg from other people, and in return Egg remains fiercely loyal to him, the one constant in Wemmbu’s life.
But being the closest friend of the most notorious person on an anarchy server doesn’t come without a price, one that almost costs Egg his life over and over again. Luckily for Wemmbu, he pays it without hesitation each and every time.

Flame didn’t want to admit it, but something felt off.
Not the usual “I got hit too hard in a fight” off. More like a slow, creeping fog sitting behind his eyes. His head felt hot. His hands felt cold. And every few minutes he had to swallow against the weird scratch in his throat that definitely wasn’t there earlier.
But he refused to say anything because Mane would never let him hear the end of it.
