Dean makes it to Lisa’s in record time. Cas paid his visit along the way and Dean felt more present in those few minutes than he did in the entirety of the hours driving alone. Cas is okay. Bobby is okay. For a moment, as Dean had knelt on the dying grass with his face so beaten he could barely see, he thought he had lost everyone. Adam taken. Cas exploded. Bobby broken. Sam gone. That moment, with his knees digging into the dry grass, was more painful and dehumanizing than the decades he had spent in Hell. That pain was nothing in comparison.

Dean doesn't remember the start of his relationship with Cas. One day he was his best buddy and now they make out and don't hook up with anyone else. Honestly aside from the touching, the only aspect of their lives that has changed because of them being together is that they don't storm off when they're mad anymore, they just let loose on each other until whatever it is gets resolved. That may sound bad, but it's better than letting their problems fester until they can't stand to be near each other. It's healthier this way. So when Dean really reflects on their relationship dynamics, and he has a realization about their physicality, he brings it up with Cas.

How I imagine Dean getting pulled out of Hell & put back together. Might do a Cas POV as a companion piece later but idk. This is super dramatic & weirdly written, but if that's your vibe there are some banger poetic lines scattered throughout that I'm stoked about.

The pain blinds him and sets his entire being on fire, and it is all anchored on his left shoulder. Like a perverted version of a rescue hold, pulling Dean tighter into the lightning like it's his lifeguard rather than the shark pulling him underwater and ripping pieces from his limbs."
