Summary
“It’s yours,” Eddie had finally said, looking down at it for a moment before handing the phone to him. “I… There’s a lot of stuff you might want to go through on there.”
Buck frowned, confused, but when he looked down at the screen, he saw it.
[250 missed calls]
[635 unread messages]“Wha–”
“A lot of people used it as a… A way to communicate with you while you were gone.”
Eddie’s voice was tense. Buck couldn’t stop staring, reading the top message from Eddie over and over again, the only one that he could see. It didn’t make sense.
“You don’t have to go through it all but… We missed you, ba– Buck.” Buck slowly looked up from his phone, and there was that look again. Eddie had reached out, the same way he had when Buck came back, fingers brushing across his face gently. Buck wanted to melt into it. He did, later, but in that moment, he had to keep himself together.
“I want to.”
“Okay,” Eddie’s hand had dropped. Buck’s skin felt cold. “Come get me when you’re done.”
OR
Buck gets blipped. Eddie's left behind. A love story told through what Eddie did in his absence.

Summary
“Gay Michael’s coming over for dinner tonight,” Bobby says conversationally, sliding a bowl of olives over to Buck.
Buck catches the bowl, and then freezes, eyes widening. “Gay… Michael? Since when do you call Michael Gay Michael?”
Ah. Well.
“It just slipped out,” Bobby admits. “I don’t usually.”
Buck’s eyebrows furrow, something like quiet devastation falling onto his face. “Cap, are— are you homophobic?”
At this, Bobby startles. “What? No. Gay Michael is my best friend.”
Or: Bobby calls it as he sees it.

Summary
He inspects the way Buck’s face sinks into his pillow, the way his thick arm rests over the comforter, hugging it to his body, the way his brow is still furrowed with tension.
God, he’s beautiful. Eddie shudders at the realization. It’s not like he had never given it a thought before, had never caught himself staring at Buck from across the room—but this is different. It’s not just admiration anymore. His heart warms in a way that makes him uncomfortable and unsure of what he’s feeling.
Subconsciously, he lets one hand reach out, thumb tenderly smoothing over the creases in Buck’s forehead. It’s almost casual, like it’s not a big deal. Like it’s just something he does, even though this moment is anything but casual.
Like he’s not blurring the lines of their relationship right now, like a wave washing over drawings in the sand.or the one where Eddie takes care of Buck when he's being plagued by a bad migraine.
