Buck finally looks back up at him, vulnerability and compassion clear on his too-expressive face.
"I don't know," he says honestly. "I don't…" he shudders, gives a tiny shrug of his shoulders and tries again. "I don't have an answer for that, man. It's been seven months for me and I still feel…like this."
"Like what?"
Buck just shrugs again, then mumbles, "Not myself."
And Eddie doesn't know what to say to that either, because this is the only version of Buck he's ever known.

Summary
When Eddie came back to L.A. from Texas, Buck knew he would have to move out of Eddie's house, eventually. That had always been the plan; it was always going to be temporary, but Eddie didn't ask, so Buck didn't offer.
One night, after a particularly long shift when they were both half-dead on their feet, they collapsed onto the bed together. All they did that night was sleep, but it continued every night after.
They didn't talk about it, and Buck thinks that should've been his first warning sign.

Summary
There is nothing Buck wants more in the world than to be a dad. Never mind that he's as good as to Chris, Buck wants to have a family of his own. Eddie understands that too, even if he wants to take Buck by the shoulders sometimes and shake him, show him everything he's already got.
Buck has never outright said this to Eddie, but it doesn't take a genius to figure it out. Besides, it's Eddie's job as Buck's best friend to know these things.
So why, if he wants a baby so bad, is he giving one to a couple who won't appreciate it?
Or: Eddie is jealous that Buck is a sperm donor for Connor and Kameron, so the universe gives him Buck's baby instead.
