Dustin waited until both Steve and Eddie were firmly inside the small closet, before casually letting the door slide close. He quickly took a few steps back. The closet had a known issue with the lock. It automatically locked whenever it was shut, and couldn’t be opened from the inside.
“Uh, Dustin,” Steve said, “The door’s closed and won’t open.”
“It does that sometimes,” Dustin said, almost at the main entrance of the door.
“Is this your idea of a prank?” Steve asked, “It’s not funny.”
Dustin walked out of his house, before he could hear any objections.
This had got to work. There wasn’t much space in there, so Steve and Eddie would be firmly pressed together. It would take nothing at all for them to start kissing.
Or: The Party places a bet to see who can successfully set Steve and Eddie up.

Summary
Bucky turned around, looking for another exit point, and caught Steve's eyes. Steve stiffened his shoulders, preparing for a fight, his hand tightening on the tranquilizer stored in his pocket. There were still people around, but Steve felt confident they could do this without any bystander injuries.
Just as Steve prepared to pull the tranquilizer out, he noticed how loose Bucky's muscles were. He wasn't preparing for a fight.
Bucky raised his hands in surrender.

“Um, hey, I can hear you,” Eddie said. He looked good. There was no blood, and he had no injuries.
But Steve had watched as he bled out. He had held him in his arms. Steve had dragged Dustin off his body, and forced him to leave the Upside Down. He’d washed Eddie’s blood out from under his nails, picking flecks of him away for days. He’d told his uncle that he was gone.
Eddie shouldn't be here.
“So can I,” another voice said.
Steve swung to look at him. At himself? He had to do a double take because that was Steve. What the fuck?
Or: Steve was wracked with guilt. Not only did he let Eddie die, he couldn't even bring back his body. He and Robin sneak away from Eddie's funeral to recover body, hoping to be back by the time the wake commenced.
But Eddie's body was nowhere to be found in the Upside Down. Steve and Robin dejectedly try to return home, only to stumble their way into an alternate dimension instead, discovering along the way that Eddie survived after all. The only catch: Eddie was lost in another dimension. Steve's search for Eddie might end up teaching Steve a few things about himself too.
