After deciding to let Boothill hitchhike on the One And Only after the events of Penacony take place, Argenti finds an injured warp trotter out of orbit and decides to act on the ways of The Beauty and nurse it back to health. Boothill is caught between memories of the past, a calm future, and a present of violence he is hesitant to accept.

It was quiet, almost eerily so. Aside from his own shallow, quiet breaths next to nothing resonated in the walls. At random intervals, he became aware of little bits of other sounds; of the quiet ticking of the clock on the wall, the subdued hum of the refrigerator the next room over; footsteps from the apartment above him, a car on the streets outside—but the sounds were never long, never persistent. As soon as a noise came, it went, leaving him alone in a manufactured, artificial silence. Sitting. Fiddling. Prying at it.
This was supposed to be comforting. This was supposed to relax him, make him feel like he understood, like he was in control. Instead, he felt like he couldn’t grasp anything at all.
After a set of intrusive thoughts, Anasui locks himself in the bathroom to calm down the only way he knows how.

Jolyne Cujoh liked when things were in motion.
She liked to feel the wind in her hair when she was behind the wheel in one of Romeo’s faster cabriolets, liked to feel the vibrations of the motor in her fingers when her foot stomped down on the gas when they entered the highways, liked the sound of the other cars passing by, though most was being torn away by the time they passed them at tremendous speeds.
A character study of Jolyne based heavily on my own headcanons just because :)
