As usual, he sits cross-legged on the floor with his laptop open in front of him. This time, his back is turned to Getō, and he’s only partially visible in the mirror’s frame. The sound of rushing water fills the room as he pulls up a video of an ocean stream on the wall. Colorful fishes and turtles swim in peace.
“Satoru, what—” Getō’s voice breaks off, and he swallows hard.

Summary
They say that some people remember their previous lives. It may not be complete memories but rather emotions and sensations. Lifetimes after Geto Suguru and Gojo Satoru die on December 24th, one year apart, they meet again.
In one lifetime Satoru is the yakuza heir to the Gojo Family, and Suguru is a new college student. In another, Suguru is a professional MMA fighter, and Satoru is the son of a Zaibatsu family. “What do you want, Mei Mei?” Satoru asks straight away, because he’s never been one to beat around the bush.
“The university’s charity organization has decided to set up a kissing booth to raise money for this year’s donation goal, and I’ve been tasked with recruiting the lucky volunteers,” Mei Mei says as she places her hand on the back of Suguru’s chair, her gaze as graciously calculating as always. “I thought you might be interested.”
“I am afraid I must refuse,” Suguru replies, maintaining a courteous tone of voice, because there’s no universe in which he’d voluntarily subject himself to such a thing.
“Okay,” Satoru retorts at the exact same moment, and every single thought in Suguru’s head comes to a standstill.
Or: When Satoru agrees to volunteer at their University's kissing booth charity event Suguru is forced to come to terms with how he actually feels about his best friend.

It’s strange, seeing Satoru this vulnerable, but he takes Satoru’s hand, squeezes it tight, and leads him down the hall. He makes sure not to let go even when they get to the exhibit. He squeezes Satoru’s hand again reassuringly. Satoru squeezes back.
What a coincidence, Suguru thinks as he watches the fish swim around, that he doesn’t have a soulmate, either. What a coincidence his soul mark was a betta fish, too.
Or: Geto Suguru is married man who doesn't believe in soulmates. Neither he nor his wife have one, after all.
And then he meets Gojo Satoru and everything changes.

Summary
So Suguru’s moving to kiss him— big deal. His breath smells like alcohol, and Satoru should find it gross but he doesn’t. Suguru turns his chin just slowly enough for Satoru to change his mind, but all Satoru does it comply, letting Suguru’s hand guide him towards him with mischief in his eyes and a small smile, and it’s just not a big deal, they’re just fucking around: Satoru feels fully confident about the lightheartedness of this moment right up until the very second Suguru slots their lips together.

Or: One kiss is all it takes to make the dam crumble, to make Satoru ache for things he doesn't understand. All he craves is to keep taking pleasure from Suguru, and he can't seem to put together why Suguru's indulging him.
