Summary
It wasn’t his first hockey fight, not by far. After decades of playing, it was impossible to avoid the occasional scrum. It just wasn’t something that Shane purposefully tried to get involved in. He wasn’t like Ilya, he didn’t find joy in pushing and prodding at the other team until one of them snapped and threw a punch. When a scrum did break out, he hardly ever joined the fray, preferring instead to focus on managing the refs and trying to get his team out of the fight with as few penalties as possible.
When Shane’s fist connected with Comeau’s cheekbone, Shane grinned.
Or, the moment Shane realized he played his last game as a Montreal Metro and the trip to the cottage after.

Yuna Hollander… got his number from Hayden Pike? Two people he has rarely if ever spoken to, yet who are undeniably important to Shane. Two people who have absolutely no reason to have his phone number.

She thinks she’s talking to Lily.
Ilya’s hands move before his brain. He doesn’t bother to worry about where she could’ve heard the name from, not when he knows Shane never talks to anyone about what they do. No one should know about Lily, but Mrs. Hollander somehow does. She is offering him some kind of information, and he doesn’t care what he has to do to get it—pretending to be Shane’s Boston hookup is nothing.
