“Long break. Everything okay?”
Megumi clears his throat, offers a small nod. The taste of ash lingers on his tongue.
The night unfolds in its predictable rhythm after that. Patrons come and go over the next hour or two: a couple of younger ladies giggling over their drinks, their voices rising and falling like waves over the jukebox sound; and a middle-aged man sitting alone in a rumpled suit, ordering himself a whiskey neat and staring down into the glass like it might have answers.
It doesn’t. Megumi’s looked plenty before.

“Not important. Um… you may have noticed, but Toga and I, we’re heroes now.” Shigaraki says; Touya considers the issue rather important, but he feels a little blindsided by the whole Shigaraki is somehow a pro hero??? thing and decides that that’s the greater trouble.
“I’ve got to say, this is quite the plot— but what are you trying to accomplish?” Touya asks. “What’s the evil plan?”
“There isn’t one.” Shigaraki says, and Touya stares at him for a very long moment. Impossibly, he seems completely sincere.
“What?” Touya says. “What?”
