Summary
Shego peeks outside one last time, just to see Kim’s incredulous expression. It’s worth every second she’s about to spend holding death’s hand.
“Yeah, but your ass can’t melt through concrete, so you be a good girl and sit this one out. I got it.”
Kim’s bottom lip trembles a little. She’s not quite sure if what she’s seeing is real or if she got hit by debris while she was evacuating everyone. In this small space of time, it’s just her and her nemesis, and the threatening realization that they aren’t so different, after all.

He keeps murmuring sweet nothings to her.
If she could, she’d pinch him. Enough with the pretty words. She’s unworthy of every one. It’s easy to fall into the flood of compliments and attention her career provides, but even after all these years, she still doesn’t know what to do with it. Does not know how to handle it properly. It pearls on her skin, washing away the second her mind makes it rain, her scars thundering.

Armin keeps buying Annie dresses, pale blue things that billow around her knees when wind surges through the wide streets of Paradis. She has to keep them in order as she bends down in the lush grass for Historia's picnics every last Sunday of the month. It annoys her.
Worse than that, today Gabi is here, visiting Reiner. Clinging to Pieck.
That is, in Annie's opinion, her first mistake. Because Gabi is a very special kid. She's violent. She harbors an animosity at the core of her being that makes her dangerous.
