    Summary

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.

“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”

With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.

    This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.

“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Grian is a vet. After a chance encounter in the dead of night, during which he accidentally saves a villain from the brink of death, he suddenly finds himself entangled in a world beyond anything he could've ever imagined.

    Summary

Grian presumed his soul was actively leaving his body – providing him with just another last minute delusion to take him into the next life - until he heard music.

His tired delusions were a lot of things, but they were never music.

Grian blinked, once, twice, then a third time. Still, the shape on the horizon didn’t fade. The light didn’t fade. The music didn’t fade. This wasn’t the blurry shadow of what may or may not be a rock, or the light of the moon against a wave imitating a town. This was a genuine miracle. This was his relief.

    It was a ship!

    - or -

After being cursed by a witch, Grian finds himself stuck in the form of a parrot with no way to change back, and only a conveniently handsome pirate captain to rely on until he reaches land.

    Summary

He hears their voices, he hears them calling to him, he hears them begging and demanding and crying and dying and—

He yanks the handle again, and this time he thinks that fire has begun hitting his back with mercy now. The burn draws him away from the screams, and all that remains is the constant lingering feeling of smoke and flame in his lungs.

He shudders, and his body adjusts. It's all he did, really, adapt. He was good at surviving where he shouldn't have, and good at failing to die where he should have.

He runs his hands over the scars on his arms, and he remembers the hands clawing at his skin. They begged and begged, and each time he failed. The water was burning, and he knew he needed to be careful. He cranked the volume up to the max that it could be, and the fire spreading across his back was instant.

or; Legs suffers from guilt, and Owen helps

    Summary

Avid knows vampires are real. His family raised him on stories about their own encounters with the creatures of the night. They were everywhere. So there must be some in Oakhurst University. He was on the lookout for signs and boy were there a lot of them. The blue haired man in vintage clothes and the shaggy haired boy with his face buried in books who were always attached at the hip were definitely a sire and his childe. The broody boy who was dating the mayor’s son definitely had blood in his water bottle. His new “college best friends” even seemed vampiric at times. He was surrounded, and he was going to prove it.

5 times Avid suspected one of his classmates was a vampire plus 1 time someone else did
