Summary
Walker had rushed to him without a second thought, uncaring of wherever the alien was going – he could hear sound of combat, the rest of the team had caught up, he could stay here and try to salvage one of the biggest mistakes of his life. He carefully rolled him onto his back and cupped his face. Bob’s eyes were open but staring blankly at the dust-filled sky, his breathing already shallow and ragged. There was a dark bloom of bruises already forming on his face.
“Medic!” he roared with a terror he rarely allowed himself to feel. “I need a goddamn medic! Now!”

Summary
“What do you remember?” Walker asked before grunting and closing his eyes, shifting his weight slightly to the side. The concrete above them shifted with his movement and Yelena quickly turned her head to the side to avoid getting concrete dust in her eyes and nose.
“Clearing the shopping center,” she replied before coughing at the burn of dust reaching her throat despite her best effort to shield herself. Walker murmured an apology and stopped moving. A few seconds passed before the dust settled enough for Yelena to be able to take a deep breath. She frowned again as she thought back to everything that had happened: clearing every floor, a call that there were civilians trapped in the elevator, Walker pulling the doors open and guiding the civilians to safety. “You were out. Why did you come back in?”
Walker offered a smile, but it was just as strained as his voice. He exhaled slowly and cleared his throat before replying, “My job wasn’t over yet.”
“You got all of the civilians to safety,” Yelena said slowly and Walker’s smile flickered slightly.
“But you were still in there,” he said quietly.

Summary
Walker didn’t look up.
He was trembling. It was a barely visible shake, but a fine tension ran through every muscle in his body. Bob could only see it in the way his fingers curled slightly and his shoulders hitched on every exhale. The man ripped the knife out of his thigh and Walker doubled forward, lips pressed into a thin, white line as he exhaled forcefully, but still didn’t make a sound.
“Still nothing?” the man asked quietly. His voice was almost conversational in how bored he seemed. “You think you can outlast me?”
Walker swallowed and slowly straightened up; blood was oozing from his thigh. He met the man’s eyes and the man raised his eyebrows expectantly, “You talk too much.”

Summary
Ava sighed when Bob still didn’t seem to notice that she was crouched in front of him. She stuck her hand between his face and his book and waved it back and forth, but he just lifted his finger to track the words on a page as his expression shifted into a frown for a second before smoothing back out. Frustration welled up in her chest, and she moved her hand to shove Bob harshly, uncaring about how rude it might be. Her hand went straight through his shoulder and she almost fell into him with a startled gasp. Her heart jumped into her throat. For a split second, she thought that maybe she had just misjudged the distance. But then her mind caught up with her thoughts and scolded her, no. No. She hadn’t felt anything. No warmth, no resistance, no contact. She barely managed to pull back before her fingers would have touched the couch, not wanting to know if she would go through it.

Summary
Bob watched Bucky’s hands closely. The left one flexed and twitched almost unconsciously – the metal plates caught the light from the lamp above and sent a dull reflection in every direction – but the right hand was still, gripping the arm of the chair as if it was the only thing keeping him grounded. Bob hesitated at the doorway. He wasn’t always good at reading people, at reading silences, at figuring out tone, but even he could tell the energy in the room was dangerous. After a few minutes of too-tense silence, he decided to throw caution to the wind and try anyway, “Hey, uh…is everyone good? That was…messy.”
“We are fine,” Yelena said shortly, not even looking up as she reassembled her gun in smoother motions than Bob could tie his shoes. “Walker was just dramatic.”
“Was not.”
“Was too.”

Summary
When she looked up, her reflection in the full length mirror standing in the corner looked nothing like her. Pale skin, greasy hair clinging to her temples, mascara smudged like dark bruises under her eyes. Not a Black Widow, not an assassin, not a spy, not a hero. Just Yelena. And she hated the sight. Her fingers closed around the first object she found on top of her dresser. Cold metal kissed her palm, and she didn’t think or hesitate. Without looking away from her own eyes in her reflection, she flung the knife at the mirror and watched it shatter. The show was as sharp as the blade of the knife, a clashing of breaking glass that felt louder than it should be.
Shards rained down on the carpet, catching the dim glow of the single lamp she had on and splintering it into dozens of small specks of light. Dozens of Yelena’s stared back at her from the floor and the edges of the ruined mirror. Some of their mouths were twisted in disapproval, some were laughing at her, some were blank soulless eyes that stared straight through her.

Summary
“I’m not joking around, kid,” Jack snapped. He crouched down and grabbed Bob’s face again, holding his head up at a painful angle. “Who the hell are you?”
“Your worst nightmare,” Bob said, already anticipating it when Jack threw his head backward hard and fast enough to give him immediate whiplash. He saw a flash of movement behind a tree nearby, but before he could process it, Jack grabbed his hair and yanked his head back, pressing a knife to his throat. “I know something that you probably really want to know before you kill me!”
Jack heaved out a frustrated growl and pressed the tip of the knife down until blood beaded up from a shallow cut, “What in the bloody hell is it?”
“There’s a tracker in my shoe,” Bob whispered before flattening himself to the ground as a blur flew out of the treeline and slammed into Jack without giving the man enough time to even blink.

Summary
“Walker!” the female voice was back, in his ear but muffled strangely. He reached up and grabbed her forearms where they were looped over his chest, supporting his weight even as he struggled to get away from her. His fingers wrapped around her arms in a tight grip, squeezing firmly. “Come on, Walker. Open your eyes.”
His eyes were open already. She didn’t know what she was talking about. He opened his eyes and the world changed around him as he blinked away the residual burn, tears running down his face in more force than when he had gone through a gas chamber. He looked down where his hands were squeezing body armor – familiar body armor, black and covered in nicks and scratches and dust. He coughed and lurched forward as his stomach revolted against his body.
“I’m sorry,” he gasped when he managed to catch his breath enough in between retches. “I killed–I killed him. I’m sorry.”

Summary
It was just another lie. Sapnap knew that. He knew he knew that. But something urged him to check just in case. If he was right then he could always lecture Dream about it in the cell. Messaging him saying he couldn't breathe wasn't funny and never would be. He pulled his comm out again and pulled up Dream's vitals.
He broke off into a sprint.
