Summary
Evan is very confused, but the man’s voice is so soft and earnest that he can’t help the smile that creeps over his face. Maybe he’d had a one-night stand that was just taking really really good care of him after… after what? A fall? Alcohol poisoning? Evan shudders at the thought of being mugged. He carried pretty much everything he had to his name on him at all times, the downside of getting paid in free food, alcohol, and lodging. “Gracias a dios, Buck,” The man breathes, resting his forehead on their joined hands.
“I’m sorry,” Evan reiterates, “I-“
“Buck, it’s okay,” Brown Eyes murmurs into his hand.
“I’m sorry. What the fuck is a Buck?” Buck questions, blue eyes shining with worry. “And who the fuck are you?”

Summary
Or: 5 Times Eddie does something illegal to make Buck smile, and one time Buck joins him in an illegal activity
“Buck,” Eddie interrupts, placing his hand at the base of Buck’s neck, thumb digging gently into the hollow of his collarbone. “Where’s your spare?”
“My spare?” Buck asks dumbly, not quite getting the point of the question.
“Grab me your spare; I’ll just change the tire,” Eddie shrugs, then peels off his button-down, leaving him in a white wife beater. He moves with such ease, leaning down to inspect the booted tired, not a trace of worry on his face. On autopilot, Buck grabs the spare tire and his toolbox from the back of the car, stumbling a little as his eyes catch on the lines of Eddie’s biceps in the street lamp’s glow.
“Eddie, if we don’t leave in like ten minutes, we’re not going to make it,” Buck sighs, looking down at his friend crouched on the sidewalk.
Eddie stands up, stepping unbearably close to Buck, breath warm on Buck’s cheek. He reaches out and wraps his hand around the toolbox handle, their skin burning where their hands meet. “Good thing I only need five, Buckley,” Eddie smirks, giving Buck a wink as he pulls the toolbox from Bucks's suddenly loose grasp.

Summary
Eddie despises the ugly green monster that’s nested deep in his ribcage. It claws at his bones and tries to force bites and barks from Eddie’s lips whenever Buck gives him one of his new, pained, shy smiles, or mentions book club, or says he needs to stop by his loft. With this one part of Buck being kept from him so purposefully, every moment of disconnect becomes a chasm in Eddie’s mind.
Or: Eddie's coming home from Texas with Chris, but Buck keeps going to book club, and he won't invite Eddie along. Eddie starts making some realizations.
Or: Eddie finds out there IS no book club.

Summary
It takes days for Buck to decide what he’s going to say.
You didn’t even let me say goodbye.
It takes two months for him to get a reply.
I’m sorry.
I hope you can still forgive me.
Buck knows he can; it’s as simple as breathing, as inevitable as the beating of his heart. His body would lead him to it even without his permission. It’ll go on forever until it doesn’t and by then it won’t matter to him, because he’ll be dead.

Eddie leaves. Buck visits him in El Paso.

Summary
Buck realizes he has an embarrassing crush on Eddie. His chaotic little brain decides his life is some sort of rendition of The Little Mermaid. Obviously, Eddie is the prince.
Buck is not trying to be dramatic or anything like that, but he thinks chances are high that his story is actually just a tragedy and he’s gonna turn into seafoam in the end.
Meanwhile, Eddie starts getting haunted by the music’s spirit of Chappell Roan. He does not like it.
Things are a little bit confusing for both of them, but isn’t the road to happiness always filled with trials and errors?

Buck loves pranks. Always has, always will.
The one thing he likes even more is pulling them off with other people’s help.
Especially if that person is Chris.
Especially if the person being pranked is Eddie.Think Hildy, and multiply that by 10.
It all started with a Tiktok, a trip to Maddie’s, and the ambition of a man already in over his head.
Or: After seeing a trend on TikTok, Buck and Christopher convince Eddie that Buck's purchased a rock for $250. It escalates

Summary
Buck exhales, holding a sob back. His hand shakes over his mouth, and Eddie stays silent. “I used to be homeless, you know.” He sniffs, shaking his head. He can feel Eddie’s gaze on him. “But, Eddie—I can’t be that brave again. I don’t wanna stay at another homeless shelter and get kicked out in the afternoons and go to church because I have no where else to stay and at least they have heating.
“I just—I need this. I need to stay. Here. I need to stay here, and you need to say that’s okay, because I’m not strong enough to handle that again. ‘M not.”
or: Eddie comes back from Texas, and Buck starts to feel weird about living in his house. For more than one reason.

Summary
"Hey, I— uh… need some help?" The guy says, voice strained and nasal, a hand trying to stop the blood very unsuccessfully.
"Who are you?" Eddie asks as he guides the man to one of the stretchers on the school's sickbay.
"I'm the new gym teacher." The guy says, giving Eddie a bloody and crooked smile. "I'm Evan Buckley but please just call me Buck."
"What even happened? Class hasn't even started yet." Eddie mutters, putting on some gloves and pressing gauze on the man's nose, trying to stop the bleeding.
"It's fine, really," The gym teacher is saying with forced cheer as Eddie reaches forward to clean the wound. "It looks worse than it feels."
The guy is bending his face backwards, almost looking at the ceiling and Eddie gently but firmly guides it forward— not wanting the new teacher to choke on his own blood.
He should've known right then and there gthat Evan Buckley would be nothing but trouble.or,
