Thunder cracked in the doorway of the Okumura household, and from its light, her brother stood half-drowned in the doorway. Eiji was never the talkative type, but as he let the water drip from the floor into pools on the carpet without saying a word, thunder rumbling in the backdrop of Izumo, she knew that any words would have been choked out of him.
Eiji spared one small smile at her, dropped his suitcase by the shoe cupboard, and walked through the house with squeaking wet shoes. Kaori watched, frowned, and decided not to press.
He didn’t talk much about America.

“It’s fine, Suguru. We can still fix this.” Gojo says confidently as he wipes a speck of blood from Geto’s face with all the gentleness of a sledgehammer.
Geto looks up at him, eyes hollow. “How?”
“I have no idea.” Gojo grins brightly. “But I’m sure Sho knows.”

Miles and miles away, Ieiri Shoko is tucked cozily in her bed, peacefully snoozing and blissfully oblivious to the twist of fate speeding her way. Itadori can’t seem to stop giggling beneath him, lips stretched in a wide grin that shows his teeth and scrunches his eyes at the corners; his nose is cherry red with cold, snowflakes scattered across his pink cheeks like freckles. His obnoxious hat was lost during their roughhousing so his hair is covered in snow, stuck to his forehead and mussed at the crown. When he opens his eyes again to look at Megumi, his smile eases into something softer, something that catches him off guard.
He’s so beautiful it steals the remaining breath from Megumi’s lungs.
“Gross.” An armful of snow is dropped on their heads from above in the next second, courtesy of Kugisaki. She wipes her hands together as if she’s done a job well done before settling them on her hips and cocking a brow at them. “Get up lovebirds, I wanna build a snowman.”
