Simon was an unstoppable force, but Fate was an immovable object.
Stationary.
When you ignore it, and put up walls to secure yourself, it only delays the inevitable. Unavailing. It doesn’t stop it. Moments in time slowly drill their way through, picking an open scab until it turns to scar tissue. It will break your skin until it drains you. You will deteriorate into ashes, scattered by the wind.
And if you force yourself against Fate, shielded with a lifetime of trauma that you use to protect yourself– you’re forced to recognize why you put the walls up in the first place. Every moment full of agony, abuse, anguish.
Your walls will crumble, because Fate never fails.
And as Fate tore the first wall apart, Simon was pushed.

It’s not long before Steve realizes this benefit is a beautiful trainer named Bucky, someone who’s fallen for their act. Between keeping up the facade and admitting his own feelings, Steve is caught falling fast and hard for a man who continues to distance himself from what is very much a complicated situation, despite his own feelings.

Summary
While debating on going through with an ill advised hook-up Bucky is caught by his best friend Natasha. Forced to lie about his whereabouts and nightly activities he invents a fake past with a handsome stranger. Little does he know that once the lies begin they will be hard to stop.
Steve is out alone trying to force himself to be social and failing miserably. The only bright spot in his disappointing evening is comes when he inadvertently eavesdrops on the hot guy next to him as he blatantly lies to his nosy friend. The entertainment takes a turn for the bizarre when suddenly he's pulled into the lies and is forced to play along.

The invitation, which Steve had received almost three months ago, is for a wedding. His childhood friend, Wanda, is getting married, and even though they haven’t spoken in years, Steve had still been pleasantly surprised to find that she had invited him to attend the big day.
The only problem is that Steve doesn’t really want to go.
If Wanda’s getting married, that means Brock is going to be at the reception as well. Brock Rumlow, who is is Wanda’s older, considerably more promiscuous step-brother, and coincidentally also Steve’s ex-boyfriend...When Steve's social anxieties makes him spiral into near-panic at the thought of attending his ex-boyfriend's sister's wedding by himself - single and alone - he turns to his best friend for advice. Bucky's solution is just as comforting as it is crazy, but damn it, Steve never could argue with Bucky's logic. And really, pretending to date his best friend shouldn't be all that hard.
