But the longer he kept his eyes glued to the screen, the hotter her skin grew, a slow burn creeping up her neck and settling in her ears.
His fucking daughter.
He should want to hear what she had to say. After all, he had been the one who insisted she stop taking the contraceptive potion the night they were married.
This is my first fic.

The 8th years, in the spirit of inner house unity, have been removed from their houses, and placed into a combined house and dorm with the other 8th year students forced to return. He enjoys the shadows he's created for himself over the past two years, and doesn't have any intentions of letting them go.
Hermione Granger never came back from the war, not really. Everyone finds out quickly that she's stuck in her head, fighting her trauma, the pain of her scars the war inflicted, and the weight of her status as "Golden Girl." Hermione is a reckless mess in the dark, and afraid of being inspected too closely in the light.

THE ONLY WAY OUT IS THROUGH
Starting in 8th year, Draco and Hermione return to Hogwarts. Hermione is burnt out from the war. She’s spent the last year doing and thinking about as little as possible- except Draco Malfoy. She thought about him a lot.
After his trial, Draco had sent her a 5 page letter, in neat bullet points, listing out all of his apologies and regrets. Now, they’re back at Hogwarts and paired up as potions partners.
A tentative friendship forms, and eventually grows into love. But the decisions they made in the war, and the things they've left unhealed will come back to them, as the pain of new grief becomes too great to bear.
Over the following years, they’ll go on healing journeys, finding love in all of its forms- love from friends, mothers love, unexpected love, love that isn’t quite right…and of course, love that will last forever.
This story is an emotional rollercoaster coaster- I'm warning you and I apologize in advance if I make you cry- lord knows I sure did! But it is HEA, and whatever I broke, I made sure to fix! hang in there and enjoy :-)
