Then he glared at her. “Are you an idiot?”
“What?”
“You must be, to start reading a book that makes people disappear just after you saw someone else do it,” he huffed.
“I came to rescue you!” She protested. Then she remembered exactly who was holding who, and she could feel the warmth of blood rushing to her face.
“And here we are.” He smirked as if he’d realized the exact same thing.
To his credit, he gently set her on the ground feet-first.
