Keith Kogane has successfully managed to get through three years of college without bothering anyone, and without anyone bothering him. That is, until Lance McClain invites him to karaoke after class one day.
Lance McClain's only rule for karaoke is this: a minimum of one Spice Girls song must be sung. How is he supposed to cope when he meets Keith Kogane, whose only rule for karaoke is that he doesn't do karaoke?
Or, 5 times Keith listened to a Spice Girls song unwillingly, and 1 time he did it on his own accord.

“I’ll see you soon,” Keith responded, his voice low. “I miss you too.”
Lance’s face flushed hot. His brain’s ability to fixate on things at wildly inappropriate times had just sprung into action. He reveled in the sound of Keith’s voice, feeling pained that he wasn’t in front of him right now.
“I really miss you, Keith,” Lance almost whispered, his voice laced with a slightly sinister undertone.

Does anyone know Lance is in love with Keith?
Of course not. And Lance would very much like to keep it that way, thank you! Keith already doesn't want anything to do with him ever since coming back from that space whale; the last thing Lance needs on top of his crumbling self-worth and shaky standing in the team is a rejection that shatters his heart in pieces, too.
But now, Lance got himself in a bit of a pickle. Which is fine, because Lance has a plan to get out of it! A wonderful, brilliant, masterful, completely fool-proof plan. His team won't look at him like he's more incompetent than they already do, he won't have to spend the rest of his life trapped on some alien planet, and Keith will never find out just how head over heels he is for him. It's a win-win-win situation.
Of course, with Keith, things are never quite so simple, and Lance's plan soon causes a domino effect that changes the entire course of his life.

Maybe Lance should have been a little more specific when he said he'd do anything to get home. Because now...

Summary
When he woke up, Keith Kogane was very distinctly not in his bed.
Keith grabbed his head as the memories returned in jabbing, painful flashes, as if they were being forced upon his mind. Shouting. Torches. Gunshots, punching dangerously past the narrow space between his ear and shoulder.
Where am I?

The universe is a confusing and complicated place. It holds secrets in its web, contains multitudes in a series of truths that contradict everything Keith knows. And what does he know, anyway?
Keith's only ever been one thing during the span of his life: lost. And that's all he's ever capable of being.
Tripping through the brush, stumbling over hills, and sliding down riverbanks, Keith can run and run and run and run, but he will never find it. No matter how many twisted reflections he sees in the puddles at his feet.
And the stars, they weep.

Summary
But in truth, Keith was never that strong. Power came from within, and inside Keith was nothing but a cowardly creature that only knew how to bluff and run. When the black lion had chosen Keith, he knows to others that it’d seemed like the most logical choice, but the truth is that nothing was more terrifying to him than when the lights inside the cockpit lit up. There has never been a single bone in his body built for leadership. Leading people meant being dependable, observant, caring.
Someone like Lance.
Lance, who Keith is helplessly forced to watch as a bright and powerful blast rips him and Red apart. Lance, who's so willing to sacrifice himself for him. It marks their defeat, and before Keith takes his last breath, he wishes he could just go back.
OR:
During the last battle against Honerva, things take a turn for the worse and Keith and the rest of Voltron end up dying. Keith wakes to in the past, very early on in his journey in space, even before their first encounter with Zarkon, and Keith thinks maybe he can change things.
Except Lance isn't here. Lance is missing.
