Summary
The break of dawn always comes like a breath of fresh air. Cool at first, like the dampness of the dew that rests on blades of grass; but the warmth of the rising sun quickly permeates what sat dormant overnight, bringing it to life. The golden glow of the sun that peeks over the horizon blazes light years away, but it somehow comes from within.
That’s what it feels like. The same cycle. It happens over and over again, yet the awe never eludes them. Every time that fire burns within them, it’s a new beginning, a new opportunity.
After regenerating, the Doctor finds themselves being given a second chance with the last person they left behind.

Summary
The Doctor stares down at her controls, watching Yaz storm out of the console room from her periphery. With Dan no longer on board, neither of them have reason to keep up the facade that everything between them is fine. The fact Yaz doesn’t even want to be in the same room as her is evidence enough that things are definitely not fine between them.
Putting it all into words on the beach had been tough — it’s clear that this version of her lacks in the social skills department — but she managed the important bits that got the main message across. Even if she were better with words, the Doctor isn’t sure she could articulate everything she needed to say. There are many things that may have helped Yaz understand the situation from her point of view, but the Doctor isn’t sure those words would yield a different result.
So she watches her leave. Part of her screams to call out for her, to follow after her, to resolve things, but the courage she needs is nowhere to be found.
It might be best to give Yaz some space for a bit, anyway.

Summary
“You can come in,” the Doctor calls out from inside the room.
Yaz pushes the door open the rest of the way. Her heart is racing. She’s never really been in the Doctor’s room before. She had just seen it through the doorway a few times in passing. It’s a lot neater than she was expecting, though still pretty messy at first glance, but perhaps the TARDIS had cleared up for her too while she was gone. It’s also a lot less imposing than she had imagined, not much different from her own in terms of size and level of grandeur.
“You didn’t have to knock,” the Doctor says, looking up at Yaz as she walks in.
“Felt rude to just barge in,” Yaz laughs nervously.

Summary
[N]ot much about any of this makes sense, none of it is fair. Yaz’s life has revolved around the Doctor for so long now, she’s not sure what to do without her. All of this has suddenly become that much more real, and she’s terrified.
She wishes she would have shot the Master when she had the chance.
But now isn't the time for anger, or worrying about what she should have done. Now is the time for making sure nothing else bad happens and that the Doctor stays safe. Yaz isn’t going to leave her side. She’s decided that now. She doesn’t care how long she has to sit and wait, but she will watch over her Doctor until the inevitable happens. Time passes differently in the TARDIS, anyway. Maybe it won’t feel like eternity, even if it is.
She would wait an eternity for her any day.
So Yaz moves to a seated position, crossing her legs underneath her, and settles in for however long this is going to be. Maybe she should have grabbed a pillow for herself. She lets out a sigh.
“Right then,” she says. “What do we do now, Doctor?”
Everything that happened at the end of tpotd while the Doctor was out for "a while".

Summary
Yaz doesn’t know how long she’s been awake.
The gentle hum of the TARDIS is usually enough to lull her to sleep, but her mind is too active to even make a decent attempt. She’s as wide awake as she has ever been, sleeping only a distant memory in the back of her mind as the events of the day replay in her head.
The Doctor likes her. It’s something she has only hoped for before today, but knowing now that her feelings are reciprocated, she doesn’t know what to do. Especially since the Doctor didn’t hesitate to shatter her heart into a million pieces all within the same day.

Summary
“But regardless of that, out of almost 8 billion I always manage to find someone like you,” she says with a soft smile. As she holds her gaze, the intense hazel of her eyes captivates her, even in the dim light. “Keeps me coming back.”
Trying to ignore the way her breath hitches, she turns away from where the Doctor is sitting and busies herself with tidying up the nonexistent mess she made while fixing her tea. Her eyes bore into her with every movement she makes.
They had agreed. They agreed not to pursue any of their feelings any further, to just stay friends and act like nothing was wrong when Dan asks. Just earlier today the Doctor finally reciprocated her affections, only to immediately rescind them, why would she say something like that? It had started as just normal small-talk, how did they end up here again?
Unless she means it in a totally platonic, non-romantic, “we’re totally fine, Dan” kind of way.
