"You're very adept, aren't you, Miss Khan? Very prepared."
Yaz tilts her chin up. "Comes with the territory. Too many in my line of work are too easily scared."
"But you're not, are you?" Thena asks her, taking another step forward. Her voice is lowered, that hungry look in her eyes once more. "You're not scared off in the slightest."

“So uh,” he asks, not sure whether she’s even hearing him. “Whatcha working on?”
It turns out it was the right move, because she immediately stops typing and looks at him, hands on the top of her laptop screen so she can lean closer. She’s clearly excited – eager to ramble.
Oh boy, he thinks, but he can’t help but smile.
“Tranquillity Spa,” she announces with a dramatic flair, like she’s the starring role in her own stage show. “Ever heard of it?”

Summary
“I’ve been busy,” comes the reply as the Doctor slumps back in her seat, looking away out the window again so she can avoid Yaz’s gaze. “And then when I got back it was really late but, y’know, jet lag, and I was taking the bus back from the airport and I heard some people talking about homeless people going missing so I started looking into it straight away –”
“Wait wait wait,” Yaz says, incredulous. “You’re telling me you’ve been on a ten-hour flight and then immediately started working on a new case?”
“Yep,” the Doctor says, sinking into her seat a little further.

Summary
The Doctor didn't like being stranded. Reason why she was most relived when Jack Harkness showed up to free her from that Judoon prison.
She frequently thinks back about it.
About how things would've turned out differently, if she had left all that happened on her home planet aside, forgot about her surely deceased best enemy, and moved on to new adventures with the fam and Jack.
She probably wouldn't have been stranded...again...with her surely deceased best enemy.Bookmarked by cosmicallyaverage

Summary
The TARDIS recruits a rescue team for the Doctor after the Judoon take her away, and the Master really shouldn't go. Particularly if it includes having to hang around a freakish temporal monstrosity like Jack Harkness. Then again, what does he have to lose? He could die, sure, but that means nothing when he always (always always always) comes back, whether he wants to or not.
Turns out the Doctor is determined to save the Master, too. He hates every second of it. Really, he absolutely does, she's very cruel and horrible, everything's her fault, and there's nothing good about spending time with the Doctor, at all. Ever.

Summary
“By who?” All pretense of normality has fallen away, leaving only snapping questions and quiet fire as her mind races through the possibilities. Had the TARDIS been sabotaged? It can’t have been, she knows where all of the keys to the ship are and have been, which hands they’ve passed through, which ones had been destroyed along the way. Unless, of course, one hasn’t been lost yet, but she’s always so careful that it seems unlikely.
“The opera house’s resident phantom, it would seem. This was left for you, along with a time and date I was to deliver it,” he says all too cordially, holding the sealed note out to her.
“Hold up -- phantom? Doc, you couldn’t’ve broken down somewhere without ghosts, could you?”
Following the events of Orphan 55, the Doctor and her fam find themselves stranded in what seems like the 19th century, where they are taunted by a mysterious opera ghost who seems to have already known that they would be dropping by.Bookmarked by cosmicallyaverage

Summary
As far as Yaz can tell at first glance, there are no passcodes for buildings or high-level government secrets on the phone. Just row after row of conversations with people. Some of these bear names and labels that Yaz recognizes — Jane Austen and Elvis Presley and Virginia Woolf (Bowling) — but some are marked with names that she's quite certain she's never heard before. Mostly, however, the phone is dominated by exchanges with O. The messages stretch back for years, and after a while, she gives up on trying to scroll up to the top of the conversation to figure out when this relationship started.
From the messages, it’s abundantly clear that the Doctor has known O much, much longer than she’s known any of them.
“Blimey, they’re chatty, aren’t they?” Graham comments as he peers over Yaz’s shoulder.
“We already knew that,” Ryan says quickly before he leans forward and adds, “You should message him, Yaz.”
Concerned about the Doctor's newfound penchant for texting and the intense secrecy surrounding it, the fam takes it upon themselves to investigate the identity of her texting buddy.

Summary
Koschei's name was drawn the year before hers, and he slaughtered almost half the tribute field personally, claiming the first victory for their District and becoming an overnight sensation. Media darling Caesar Flickerman had dubbed him The Master, a title that stuck, and he plays his part well, but as soon as the cameras are off, darkness always comes floating back towards the surface. He mentored Theta while his own pain was still fresh, and dismissed her as a lost cause as soon as the second name was drawn. The other tribute for District 3 that year was Koschei's friend, classmate, and neighbor, and Koschei all but told her that he would throw her to the wolves and focus the entirety of his attention on supporting her male counterpart.
That favoritism did not matter in the end. His friend died first, and Theta won the shortest games on record. Thirty-six hours, one meticulously engineered mass slaughter, and it was over.
Fifteen years have passed since then, and he still has not forgiven her.

Summary
The Doctor and the Master had always been together, as partners and lovers, ever since their days at the Academy. They’d never needed anyone or anything else and, despite all their youthful claims that they would leave Gallifrey and see the rest of the universe, they just never got around to it.
Even though there were gaps in their memories, even though there were mysterious figures trying to break into the Citadel, even though it all seemed too good to be true… everything was perfect.
Wasn’t it?
Then why did it feel like they were all in terrible danger?
