Summary
Touch was a foreign language, one he'd never learned and didn't trust, buried beneath a lifetime of snarls and sharp edges, each one a blade forged to keep the world at bay.
It was safer to be untouchable, to reject before he could be rejected, than to let himself crave what he was certain would never be his.
Then there was Ralph.
Ralph seemed to care nothing for Henry's rules, or maybe he saw through them, his touches slipping past like water through cracks, each one laced with an undercurrent that made Henry's heart race.
It was a need he couldn't acknowledge, a betrayal of the boy who'd sworn he didn't need anyone, and yet, every time Ralph's gaze met his, warm and searching, a silent question hanging between them, Henry felt the ground shift beneath him, his heart racing with a mix of fear and want.

Summary
Peter had always understood something Henry never would: that beneath all the shouting, the slammed doors, and the endless declarations of hatred, Henry loved him.
It wasn't the soft, cuddly love Mum talked about in bedtime stories. It was sharp edged and reluctant, like a cat that hissed but still came to sleep on your pillow at night.
And actions always spoke louder than horrid words. Henry said he hated Peter like a mantra. Peter knew it was a lie he told himself to stay safe.
Peter didn't mean to learn how to weaponize that soft spot. He was a good little brother. He only wanted Henry to be happy. Even if the means of doing so were unconventional.

'Tell me your woes, friend,' Thor said softly.Bruce hasn't left his lab in three days. With the Avengers away on business, it's up to Thor to investigate... even though providing comfort does not come naturally to him. And he barely knows the guy.

Peter sometimes forgot that he was a vigilante and not quite a superhero.
There were a few distinct differences given that the superheroes of Earth were under the control of a collection of governments with the Sokovia Accords.
But one major difference between a superhero and a vigilante- between an Avenger and Spider-Man- was that the police fucking hate vigilantes.
