Summary
Satoru Gojo’s a firm believer in the idea that everybody has their off days. Sometimes a shitty grade is a shitty morning. The kids tend to do better when they know they’ve got a second chance, so two or three or whatever is what the kids get.

Summary
Shoko hates chocolate. Loathes sweets, really; hates the way sugar clings to her tongue and coats her teeth in acid. She’s not sure, then, why she’s picked up smoking again, given that nicotine does the same. She is neither a religious woman, but she buys the cardboard boxes anyway. Three for the first, no, second-years, and four for the third-years. Seven in total.
They’re cutesy, flimsy things, imported from abroad, embossed with cartoon characters and overly expensive. The clerk might have side-eyed her once or twice, but she’s too focused on rooting through her purse to find Gojo’s old credit card to really care.

Summary
It doesn’t feel right, stepping outside while it’s still light out. There’s just a sliver of sun left in the day, and as it slides beneath the horizon, she realizes that it is already starting to snow.
Smoke hangs heavy in the air. The smell’s a sharp contrast to how fresh and clean this round of snow’ll be, but whatever.
It’s out of place on a day like this, but it’s only a brief pleasure, a cigarette; certainly not out of character.
She watches, blithely, as the sun tucks itself behind the skyline, wiping at her mouth with the back of her hand. Cigarette wedged firmly between her fingers, the woman glances over her shoulder toward the morgue’s fire exit, left just an inch open.
It’s freezing outside. Snow settles on the shoulders of her lab coat, dusts the strands of her hair.
Shoko Ieiri pays the cold no mind.
Instead, like clockwork, she turns, and takes seven steps south.

Summary
Suguru begins to wonder if it’s lonely for Gojo. Keeping an inch between him and the world.
Not an inch, a voice that sounds suspiciously like Shoko reminds him. Infinity.
But does it feel like infinity? When summer’s humidity swells to its peak, can Gojo feel the pressure? When a barrage of low-level curses ambushes them in Roppongi, can he sense their velocity, the twist of the wind? When Suguru grazes the immovable space between them - hands him a test paper, shoulders past him in the corridor, reaches out, unthinking, to slap him on the back – does Gojo know the warmth of Suguru's skin?
Then, on July 12th, in a sour-smelling alley in Katsushika ward, Suguru catches him. Hunched over, spindly legs crouched, a street-worn cat pressing her nose to his fingertips. It licks her sandpaper tongue over his knuckles. Rubs the flat of her forehead against his palm. Gojo hums, pushing a tangled cowlick back with his thumb, a serene little smile on his face.
Yes, Suguru thinks. It must be lonely.
(Trauma is complicated, brains are strange, and Satoru Gojo is not immune to either of these truths.)

“I must understand what exactly?” Shoko interjected. She turned around, fixing a piercing gaze on the sitting silhouettes of the old men, her eyes reflecting resentment. The room seemed to tighten and thicken with tension.
"Kill a 16-year-old? Kill a child? On what grounds? Because even if he is causing no harm at the moment, he will in the future?” She demanded incredulously. The disapproval and defiance in her voice were palpable.
“You must understand!” The booming voice returned and argued. Shoko groaned quietly. She took another quick and angry drag, running her tongue along her teeth. As the stalemate began, Shoko's thoughts raced. She couldn't fathom the cruelty of the request, the disregard with which the Higher-Ups were treating the lives of her students.
Shoko's been summoned by the Higher-Ups regarding Yuuji's continued existence.
