Fox has always been something of a tinkerer, absentmindedly building things as he plans patrol rosters and thinks up solutions to the failings of the galaxy.
Overtime, this habit has yielded a small army of mouse droids which Fox likes to use as his part-time personal spies, but he also lets them roam freely as they wish.
Eventually someone comes across one of the adorable little droids and gifts it a hat, sized to fit perfectly.

“Udesii, verd. Gar morut'yc.” A blurry grey figure spoke, covered head to toe in strange metal armor, painted grey and red, the skull of some tusked animal welded onto the pauldron. “Me'vaar ti gar?” The figure stood above him, red cape on its shoulders.

Bar-oor? That's probably a space doctor, right? He absolutely doesn't have space healthcare. Eh, what are they gonna do, kill him? Death has already spat him out twice.
He gave Jaster a deadpan look, “If you cross me I'll shoot you.”
The metal man hummed in agreement. “Elek, verd.” The metal man said as he offered him a hand up, which Jason took reluctantly as getting carried around like a damsel would do much more damage to his pride than using the man as a crutch.

Fox has enough. Enough of the Senators treating him like a thing, of the sleepless nights and never-ending paperwork, of the GAR thinking the guard is a cushy job and making fun of them, of his batchmates that keep ignoring him. He just can't do it anymore, especially with him not getting much support for the rest of the guard. He just can't do it anymore.
So he disappears.
But a Marshal Commander can't just vanish without anyone noticing. And Fox sees firsthand what his presumed death is doing to the people around him.

..CC-1010 has been severely injured..Cody rushes to help the Guard after their Marshal Commander is out of duty, but something's wrong. The medic staunchly refuses to let him see his batchmate, and nobody seems to know what happened. The other Commanders are elusive and edgy, but polite. Too polite. What has happened to the Corries, Cody wonders, that they don't even trust their own brothers? Dark whispers surround the Guard, but Cody is determined to ferret them all out to ensure his brother isn't in the pile.
Thorn and Thire are panicking. With Stone off-world, and Fox... unavailable, they are left to their own resources in protecting their Commander's vod'ika. They know how far Fox would want Cody from the tangled hell that is the Coruscant Guard, but Cody is proving the stubborn little brother Fox claimed he was, and just won't. let. go.
Now, they have to make him back down, or face Fox and tell him they let his vod'ika die.

Jojo and Nici planned a lot of things, but certainly not that they would wake up on a Jedi cruiser. What starts out as fun soon becomes deadly serious - after all, the Clone Wars are in full force and Palpatine has something against teenagers unknowingly encouraging rebellions. The two quickly learn that the shadow of the future Emperor reaches further than they think - and Palpatine will do everything in his power to prevent them from tearing down his carefully spun web.
Rex really just wants to survive the war. Stupidly, randomly appearing Natborns are interesting enough that the Jedi want to keep them and now he has to take care of them, of course. At least they listen to him. Natborns are weird, shure. But to be directly labeled as human and not a clone, to have two teenagers from an alien planet there who have nothing to do with them and still have try his back - that's... another weird Force thing. Since when does anyone take sides with clones?
Or, as Cody puts it: civilians have no business on Jedi cruisers, NOTHING at all. The Jedi Council may see it differently, but they're dead wrong. This is a war, dammit. Luckily, that's Rex's problem until he makes it Cody's. Which he does, thank you very much.

“Jaybird!” Dick yells as soon as he pulls the double doors open, and Jason can see the trail of little ducklings behind him.
Duke, Steph, Cass, and Tim are in a neat line behind Dick, and they all look miserable. They’re all wearing pajamas, each with their own tissue box. Damian is standing apart from them with his arms crossed, and Alfred The Cat is perched precariously on his shoulder, but the illusion of an upset healthy prepubescent teenager is very obviously ruined by a very red nose, and the pale pallor of his normally deep tan.
Dick is the only one who doesn’t look miserable, and Jason laments his own health and simultaneously curses Dick’s extremely abysmal culinary abilities and prowess.
Jason has no words. He wants to step back, away from the sick children. He wants to go back to his germ-free apartment and watch the newest episode of Great British Bake Off with Roy.
He takes a step back.

Or, wherein Tim got his spleen taken by Ra's like in canon but little does everyone know that Jason had sold his spleen when he was a kid to try and get Catherine into rehab (and she still died of a drug overdose.)

Maybe the Jedi was right. Some things were better explained in person.
If General Plo Koon had told Fox over holo-call that his entire living training batch plus necessary tagalong had spontaneously regressed five standard years, Fox would have been disconnecting the call to send a strongly worded message to Stone to keep his trainees away from any possibly treasonous mischief.
As that was not what happened, Fox was forced to process the fact that he was staring at Wolfe, Cody, Bly, and Rex, looking like perfectly normal clone cadets when they were supposed to look like much older commanders.
