They say that Fate is a wound, and we can only hope to scar. They say there is no new growth without cutting-back.
(Marked, cut, changed; one and the same. To be marked is to endure.)

Summary
“Speak and fear not,” Ulmo says. “And thereafter do as thy heart and valor lead thee.”
This is… almost certainly not what the Lord of Waters had in mind.
______________________The High King sits upon a dais in the center of the chamber with the sun on his left and the moon on his right.
Tuor blinks. A golden-haired elf on his left and an elf in black and silver on his right. He must be losing his grip, delirious with fatigue and awe. He bows low and steals another glimpse on the way down: a shining lady with an unnervingly direct gaze, decorated in amber and bone; an inscrutable lord with a flinty expression and epaulets of braided chain, his eyes fathomless as the lady’s are luminous.

Summary
It might have been a short story, a simple one. Two princesses: one dark, one light. A noble knight, pure of heart. Love requited, love spurned. A prophecy. A curse.
But only young rivers run straight. Told enough times, a tale wears at its boundaries, begins to twist and bow and braid…

Summary
Everyone here knows that all life began in Cuiviénen. Ingwë’s great-great was the first man to lay eyes on the world. Cuiviénen is a tiny speck of blue at the center of the universe, but it enjoys no special notoriety, for all of its significance.
So when God came striding barefoot down Main Street, it caused a bit of a stir.
“Your rage calls to me,” the servant says. “You know you are meant for the world, not across the sea. You know they are wrong. How long will you endure it?”
“How long will you make me wait?” you’d wanted to say.

Summary
(Easier to disdain the flesh itself, when what you resent most is the ravenous desire, gnawing, keening, unanswered– too deeply rooted to ever fully excavate or outrun. Why does it feel so monstrous to want to be wanted?)
(To want your body to be your own?)
